Coachella 2019 news: Chvrches

The only time I've seen the band live was its first Coachella appearance for the last album. It was one of my highlights of the whole festival. Here's news on the tour...

CHVRCHES has a new US headline tour kicking off with their return to the Coachella stage on April 14.
The tour takes in the band’s biggest headline US show to date at Berkeley, California’s Greek Theatre with support from Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Cherry Glazerr will support on the other dates excluding Las Vegas. The full list of dates are below and tickets are on sale now.

CHVRCHES are Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. Their acclaimed third album Love Is Dead entered the Billboard Top Rock and Alternative charts at #1, and #11 overall. The album followed their 2013 debut The Bones of What You Believe and the 2015 follow up Every Open Eye.

Love Is Dead features the singles “Miracle” and “Get Out,” as well as the previously released “My Enemy” (feat. The National’s Matt Berninger) and “Never Say Die.”

The album is about “coming to terms with the fact that there are great things in the world and there are awful things in the world and that you can’t get one without the other,” says Mayberry.

For the first time in their career, Love Is Dead sees CHVRCHES welcome outside influences, with 2017 and 2018 GRAMMY Producer of the Year Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia) co-producing nine tracks, whilst BRIT Award Producer of the Year 2018 Steve Mac also produces a song.

Over the course of their career, CHVRCHES have played countless shows worldwide, with each tour’s production reaching new heights and leaping towards the top of festival bills. The Love Is Dead tour alone will see the band headline such prestigious venues as LA’s Greek Theatre, the Sydney Opera House, London’s Alexandra Palace and a huge hometown show in Glasgow at the SSE Hydro.

CHVRCHES have partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket will go to support Girls Rock Camps and their work empowering girls, trans and gender-diverse young people through music education and mentorship. www.plus1.org

PLUS1 is an initiative that channels the collective energy of a concert to catalyze social change. The work begins with a $1 per ticket add-on that makes fundraising simple and seamless. Beyond the dollar, PLUS1 supports artists as educators and advocates, fuelling their passion, reach, impact. To date, PLUS1 has raised and granted over $7million, and served as the connective tissue between over 100 artists, millions of their fans, and 100s of leading social justice organizations tackling global injustice.
