Johnnyswim release Christmas EP

I was totally enthralled when I saw the pair last January at NAMM in Anaheim (see elsewhere on this blog for coverage) and the new album is great. I look forward to hearing their holiday takes on some classics...

A Johnnyswim Christmas EP is available now via Big Picnic Records. Abner Ramirez of the married duo produced. It features five holiday classics (including one live, acoustic recording) and one original tune.

They will tour next month, including three nights in Nashville (which are all sold out), and two nights in Chicago and New York City. Earlier this year, the debut full-length Diamonds arrived.

Vocalist Amanda Sudano-Ramirez was exposed to music at a young age by her parents (late dance superstar Donna Summer and singer/songwriter Bruce Sudano), while Abner studied music at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in his native Jacksonville, Florida.

The two met in 2006 and started collaborating musically after discovering their similar influences of folk, soul and rock. Since then, they’ve relocated to Los Angeles, released two critically lauded EPs and performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Live from Daryl’s House” and “Today Show.” The duo has toured extensively including stops at SXSW, Spoleto Festival, Bonnaroo and a support slots for Emeli Sandé, Aloe Blacc and Feist.

In related news Amanda also appears on the new Doobie Brothers tribute album Southbound, performing "You Belong to Me" with the band and Vince Gill on guitar.
