Rodney Crowell lines up Ringo Starr, Steve Earle, other major talent for upcoming album

Grammy-winning veteran singer/songwriter RODNEY CROWELL teams with fellow Texan Randy Rogers in the official video for his track “Flatland Hillbillies,” now on multiple CMT platforms.

Written by Crowell and Mary Karr, the track features backing vocals from Rogers and Grammy winner Lee Ann Womack. It is part of Crowell’s upcoming collaboration album,Texas, which explores the celebrated artist’s Lone Star roots with an eclectic cast of all-star friends. Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Ronnie Dunn, Billy F Gibbons, Vince Gill and Steve Earle also contribute to the set. It is due out Aug. 15 via RC1.

Crowell returns to the road in August and later that month, he will be the recipient of the ACM Poet’s Award at the 2019 ACM Honors hosted at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. 

About Rodney Crowell:

With more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt, Texas native Crowell is a two-time Grammy Award winner with five Number One hits of his own. He has written chart-topping hits for Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Keith Urban and more.

He has also penned songs for artists as diverse as Bob Seger, Etta James, the Grateful Dead, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett and others. A member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Crowell is also the author of the acclaimed memoir, Chinaberry Sidewalks, and teamed up with New York Times best-selling author Mary Karr for Kin: Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell in 2012.

Crowell was honored with ASCAP’s prestigious Founder’s Award in 2017, and that same year released the album Close Ties, which spawned another Grammy nomination for “It Ain’t Over Yet” with Rosanne Cash and John Paul White in the category of Best Americana Song.

In 2018, he launched his own record label, RC1, and released his Acoustic Classic project.
