World Party, the acclaimed U.K. band led by Karl Wallinger, will be embarking on a nationwide U.S. tour beginning later this month.
The tour includes cities the band has never before played as well as some they haven’t played in 8+ years. Alongside Wallinger on tour will be his long-time live band of David Duffy on mandolin and John Turnbull on guitar. See dates below.
Fans attending these shows will be able to purchase a limited edition, exclusive World Party Hatch Show Print as well as an exclusive double live CD that is unavailable in stores or online. The 18-track double disc set was recorded at The Picturedrome in Holmfirth, U.K.
Formed in 1986, as Wallinger’s solo project (previously of cult heroes The Waterboys), World Party has amassed a collection of hit singles over its history, including "Ship of Fools", "Put the Message in the Box," "Is It Like Today?" and the chart-topping "Way Down Now," while contributing to movie soundtracks Reality Bites and Clueless.
In recent years, Wallinger has taken World Party to the stages of Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and Royal Albert Hall while releasing Arkeology to critical acclaim.
Spanning the band’s 25-year history, Arkeology is at once a new album—showcasing some of Wallinger's strongest work to date—and an unreleased, unheard history of rare studio gems, live sessions, concert recordings, radio interviews, covers, demos and B-sides, a massive, 5 CD collection of 70 never-before-heard tracks packaged in a unique Any Year Diary for fans’ personal use.
In 2006, Wallinger regained control of all his master recordings and started his own record label, Seaview.
