Ultravox's Midge Ure does rare US tour

Midge Ure will embark on U.S. solo tour in January - his first in a decade.

The last tour across the US was all acoustic in 2001; this will be the first tour with a full band since 1985.

Right The Stars will be opening the shows and will also provide backing for Ure.

Boasting an impressive back catalogue, Ure led the groundbreaking electro-rock band Ultravox, plus Visage, Thin Lizzy and Band Aid, where he produced/co-wrote the smash charity single "Do They Know Its Christmas?"

He was also one of the principle creators of Live Aid and Live 8 along with Bob Geldof. Ure toured Europe recently with Ultravox, who reformed in 2009 and did solo shows and served as musical director for the Prince's Trust at the Royal Albert Hall with Eric Clapton and Phil Collins.

Besides preparing for a US tour, Midge has been keeping busy with the recent release of Ultravox's album entitled Brilliant (their first since 1986), as well as an ebook release of his autobiography If I Was due out in 2013. Fans can expect Ure's solo material and perhaps a few Ultravox tunes as Ure works on his next solo album.
