Long awaited new music from Violent Femmes, concert schedule

Violent Femmes' first new collection of songs in 15 years, the Happy New Year EP, is out now via all major digital outlets. The EP was recorded this past New Year's Eve in Hobart, Tasmania, after the band performed a sold out concert at the Sydney Opera House.

The EP was originally released in April exclusively on 180 gram champagne clear vinyl for Record Store Day.

It ended up being one of this year's top sellers. Rolling Stone premiered the audio of the first single, "Love Love Love Love Love," and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon premiered the video of the song.

Violent Femmes - guitarist/singer Gordon Gano, bassist Brian Ritchie and drummer Brian Viglione - have announced they started recording again in May for a new album.

The trio will begin a major North American tour as special guests on Barenaked Ladies' "Last Summer On Earth 2015," now through late July (complete dates below).

Returning to action in 2013 with an acclaimed performance at Coachella, Viglione (The Dresden Dolls, Nine Inch Nails) came aboard as the newly reconstituted band embarked on a tour that included headline dates and festival sets around the world.

Violent Femmes first came together in 1981 in Milwaukee, WI, and released eight studio albums and more than a dozen singles, notably "American Music," "Gone Daddy Gone," "Nightmares," "Add It Up," and "Blister In The Sun." The band's self-titled 1983 LP earned RIAA platinum certification eight years after its initial release.
