Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival '18: Utilizing social media

Now that the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival is in full swing, check out some stories that I did on it for Redlands Magazine...

In recent years, Redlands Bowl Performing Arts has expanded its social media presence leading up to and during the summer music festival in Southern California.

Multiple posts provide charity fundraiser info, honor volunteers and make cast announcements. Artists provide up-close-and-personal snapshots for fans.

These Instagram takeovers “give our audience a chance to get a backstage peek of the Bowl season through the eyes of the performers, said Courtney Camp, RBPA Marketing/Communications/Young Artists Concerto Competition Coordinator. Cast members from “Oklahoma” and “Tarzan” have shown “different glimpses of backstage, from getting ready to what they do during the time before they go on stage.”

Camp recalled one takeover highlight was having world-renowned opera soprano Angel Blue interview Young Artists finalists last year.

“The takeovers give people the opportunity to get to know the performers better, as well as engage more online through their posts.” She tries to have one per day during the run of the musicals and other shows.
