Concert tour roundup: Counting Crows, Live, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Brian Wilson, The The

Counting Crows will celebrate a quarter century of music making by hitting the road for a worldwide "25 Years & Counting" tour, starting with a 40+ city trek across North America this summer. Joining them is the recently reunited band +LIVE+.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public in select cities starting Friday, April 6 at 10am local time. See below for full tour itinerary and visit for full details.

"The nice thing about having 25 years of music to celebrate and seven studio albums we absolutely love to choose from is that we can play a different show every night,” said Crows vocalist Adam Duritz. “The nice thing about touring with +LIVE+ is that we get to spend yet another summer with old friends who play great music. We can't wait!”

+LIVE+ vocalist & guitarist Ed Kowalczyk echoed those sentiments: "+LIVE+ is beyond excited to get out on the road this summer and play for our fans. We are freshly reunited and performing with a confidence and ferocity that we can't wait for people to experience. The fact that we will be sharing the stage once again with the incomparable Counting Crows is icing on the cake!"

In addition to celebrating 25 years of music in 2018, Duritz has also launched a new podcast, Underwater Sunshine! – a series of conversations between noted non-journalist Duritz and his pal, author and music journalist James Campion, about life, music, and whatever comes into their large and incredibly handsome brains. The weekly podcast, published every Monday, currently holds a five-star rating. View it on iTunes HERE.

Counting Crows – Adam Duritz (vocals), Jim Bogios (drums), David Bryson (guitar), Charlie Gillingham (keyboards), David Immergluck (guitar), Millard Powers (bass) and Dan Vickrey (guitar) – have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide after exploding onto the music scene with their multi-platinum breakout album August and Everything After in 1993. The band released seventh studio album Somewhere Under Wonderland in 2014.

+LIVE+, the multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania--Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion)--have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned 2 No. 1 albums (Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi). The former produced the band’s biggest single, “Lightning Crashes,” which was #1 at Modern Rock radio for 10 consecutive weeks. Throwing Copper reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million albums sold.

It's never too early to plan your end-of-the-year holiday show schedule. Good to see Wilson will be back on the road. Hopefully, they'll add a date in LA or OC. Read more info below...

From the seminal 1964 classic The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album to the acclaimed 2005 solo effort What I Really Want for Christmas, Brian Wilson has been bringing holiday cheer to the world for more than five decades.

This holiday season, for the first time, Wilson and his band of musicians and vocalists along with long time band mates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, will be performing the Christmas Album in its entirety along with cuts from his solo Christmas album and other holiday fan favorites.

Fans can expect to hear Beach Boy classics “Little Saint Nick,” “The Man with all The Toys,” and a selection of Brian’s favorite Yuletide songs including “Blue Christmas” and “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.”

He will also perform songs from his critically acclaimed solo album What I Really Want for Christmas - named for its Bernie Taupin-penned title track - as well as “Christmasey,” with lyrics by his friend Jimmy Webb.

Now this is a "must see" tour for me. I interviewed Matt for his Dusk album.

Led by singer/songwriter Matt Johnson, THE THE have announced their first live shows in over 15 years.

The post-punk iconoclasts will first tour the UK and Europe starting in late May, with many shows already sold out including London's Royal Albert Hall and Brixton Academy, before launching their North American tour in September. Tickets for the North American tour go on sale Friday, April 6 at 12 noon local time. See below for all dates and details.

The last THE THE album, 2000's NakedSelf, capped off a run of records that included his solo debut Burning Blue Soul (1981), through the band's Soul Mining (1983), Infected (1986), Mind Bomb (1989) and Dusk (1993).

In 2017, THE THE released a new single, "We Can't Stop What's Coming," as part of 2017's Record Store Day, their first new song in 15 years, with Matt Johnson joined by former THE THE members, Zeke Manyika on percussion, James Eller on bass and Johnny Marr on guitar.

It was taken from The Inertia Variations, an 84-minute documentary film, which premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh International Film Festival, and forms part of a wider multimedia project inspired by the poem of the same name by John Tottenham. Additionally in October 2017, THE THE released the Radio Cineola: Trilogy box set.

The first biography of THE THE, "Long Shadows, High Hopes," written by Neil Fraser and fully authorized by Johnson, will be published by Omnibus Press on June 7.
