Saxophonists Dave Koz, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot will hit the road again this summer (see below for itinerary).
The foursome will be playing songs from their Grammy-nominated 2013
album Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns (Concord Records) as well as hits from their individual catalogues, with support from a backing band.
They will also perform on the Dave Koz and Friends at Sea cruise to Alaska, which will depart from Vancouver, BC on Sept. 5. The cruise's lineup also includes Chris Botti plus Oleta Adams, Jonathan Butler, Bobby Caldwell, Vincent Ingala, Earl Klugh, Keb' Mo' and more to be announced artists.
Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns, which spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's
Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart, features imaginative takes on
the classic hits of Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago,
Blood Sweat & Tears and other selections from the 1960s and
'70s.
The Summer Horns' version of Sly and the Family Stone's "Hot Fun In The Summertime" just went for radio adds. It follows the No. 1 singles "Got To Get You Into My Life," which spent seven weeks atop Billboard's Smooth Jazz chart and "I Got You (I Feel Good)," which topped the Mediabase Smooth A/C chart for seven weeks.
His new weekly two-hour satellite radio show, "The Dave Koz Lounge on Sirius/XM," debuts on April 6. Dave has also joined forces with Cary Hardwick and Laurie Sisneros, partners and owners of Spaghettini in Seal Beach, to open a new Beverly Hills restaurant, Spaghettini & the Dave Koz Lounge <http://www.spaghettinibh.com>, this summer.
Meanwhile, a new video for Dave's surprise "new" CD Rest has been released today - April 1 - too.
"I've always wanted to go to bed with Dave Koz, and now I can," says John Stamos. He proceeds to do so in the video by the saxman/nine-time Grammy nominee, who was formerly named as one of People's most eligible bachelors.
William Shatner gets a piece of Koz, too. And Kathie Lee confesses to Hoda that she, too, has been sleeping with Dave Koz.
"I've been told that my music makes people tired - so I figured, why not put them all the way to sleep?" says Dave Koz.
