Out now: 'The Tides' EP by Griffin House

For Griffin House, the music for his new EP “The Tides” started to appear in a quaint Scandinavian fishing village just north of Seattle. Over the past 15 years, House has
been living the life of a one-man band troubadour. Not just solo on stage, but solo through the airports, train stations and highways, with guitar and baggage in hand, crisscrossing the country alone and showing and playing nearly 100 dates a year in the U.S.

Although Seattle has been a regular stop on the map since the early 2000s, it wasn’t until In 2012 when House first arrived in Ballard for a show at the Tractor Tavern, a bar and concert venue nestled in the heart of town, among the brick paved streets, just steps away from majestic sail boats bobbing up and down in the Shilshole Bay. House describes immediately falling under the town’s enchanting maritime spell and soaking up the magic in the Northwest air each time he returned to Seattle.

Last year on an autumn day while walking the streets and people watching, House recalls being visited by a familiar melody as he started to sing some lyrics to the tune of an ancient sea shanty. In the opening track “Once Upon a Time in Ballard Town” House invites the listener on a journey through a day in the life of his adventures roaming Ballard.

“Once Upon a Time in Ballard Town” became a catalyst for more songs that would become a five song EP recorded in March of 2023 with multi-Grammy award winning producer Jacquire King. Four autobiographical songs follow as House continues to reconcile the two conflicting identities of life as a touring musician and sober traditional family man.

“Lifeline” a song written about finding an unexpected friend in the world who brought support in a time of hardship. is the current radio single and focus track for the EP, serviced to college and non-comm radio.
