More George Harrison news: Gary Wright book

Singer Gary Wright, known for his hits “Dream Weaver,” “Love is Alive” and “Really Wanna Know You,” will publish his autobiography Dream Weaver: Music, Meditation, and My Friendship with George Harrison, slated for publication in October 2014 on Tarcher Hardcover, a Penguin Group Imprint.

Dream Weaver is ultimately a story of a spiritual journey and Gary's lifelong friendship with George Harrison. At thirty-three, Gary Wright was at the highest point in his career. His album, The Dream Weaver had been on top of the charts for months with two hit singles—“Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive,” and during the summer of '76, he was part of an arena tour with Peter Frampton and Yes.

Earlier while still living in England, he recorded music with Eric Clapton, B.B King, and George Harrison—who would later become one of his best friends. Yet, even with all of this success, he still had many questions about who he was.

In the book, Wright illuminates key moments in his journey and offers an insider’s look at a tumultuous and revolutionary time in both the music and spiritual realms. Wright details how he formed the legendary rock group Spooky Tooth, and how his close friendship with 'The Quiet Beatle' began and developed over the years as they wrote songs together, pondered philosophical issues, and journeyed to India.

The book includes many never before seen photographs of the two, and chronicles their journey, and the music they made together. Gary begins his story delving into his family and early childhood, including his years as a child star on Broadway, to his arduous journey to become a psychiatrist. It includes his living in Germany while studying psychology in Berlin, as well as the reemergence of his musical career, fueled by his own spiritual seeking that led him to meet George.
