Out now: 'Open Wide,' the third album from Dublin alt-rocker Inhaler

Open Wide, the excellent third album by alt-rock band Inhaler, is out today through Geffen Records. It is another terrific effort from the young Irish musicians. Highlighted by insanely catchy tunes such as the dance-rock title track, a keening and percolating pop-leaning "Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)," the soulful choir assisted/singalong-worthy "Your House," it is already an early contender for my best albums of the year. 

The recent video for sparkling The 1975-ish single “A Question of You” features a jewelry heist with a twist. The cinematic short stars James Keating alongside the Dublin band. Watch the video HERE.

In a statement on the song, frontman Elijah Hewson says, “This is love song territory for me, about how in order to be honest with someone else you’ve got to be honest with yourself, like, ‘I’ve gotta sort my own s**t out so I can be around other people’. It’s also a soulmates thing. The choir really changed everything on this one.”

Helmed by Grammy/Brit Award-winning Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles), the album release coincides with band’s biggest ever tour of UK and Ireland, notably two headline shows at Brixton Academy, ahead of their 20,000-capacity Dublin show in May.

“The reason why we called the album Open Wide is because we’re looking for a new perspective on our music,” states Hewson. “With this album, we’re closer to what we’ve always envisioned,” he adds. “It feels like we’ve always been trying to make this record.”

Inhaler’s debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This, hit #1 in the UK and Ireland, while their 2023 follow-up, Cuts & Bruises, topped the Irish charts and reached #2 in the UK. To maintain this momentum, bandmates and childhood friends Eli Hewson (the son of U2's Bono), Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon and Josh Jenkinson have spent the past few years on a long world tour, supporting acts like Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam, Harry Styles, and Kings of Leon, as well as headlining their own shows, including a sold out 13,000-capacity homecoming show at the Dublin 3Arena last year.

Out now: 'When The War Is Over' album by Johnnyswim

Johnnyswim’s captivating fifth studio album, When The War Is Over, is available now, listen HERE. LA-based husband-and-wife duo Abner and Amanda Ramirez delve into Americana, folk rock, blues, and soul.

The When The War Is Over rollout began in July 2024 with the release of, “Frank Gehry,” a reflection on the corrosive nature of comparison. Since then, they’ve unveiled a series of singles, including “She Checks The Weather,” inspired by ongoing health challenges that Amanda (the daughter of Donna Summer) faces, “Los Feliz,” and the acoustic-driven “Monte Carlo.” Most recently, they shared “I’m Alright,” a tribute to Abner’s Cuban immigrant parents and their perseverance in the face of discrimination.

Digital music compilation to benefit Los Angles fire victims features Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Gary Numan, Primal Scream, Devo, Danny Elfman

LOS ANGELES RISING, a benefit compilation for Los Angles fire victims, was put together by musician Kevin Haskins (Love and Rockets, Bauhaus) and producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Midnight Oil). 

Out now, it features artwork by Shepard Fairey and includes previously unreleased recordings from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Gary Numan, Primal Scream, Devo, Danny Elfman and more. Additionally, “Turn Into Redux” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is an alternative take on their 2006 release, and a cover of 1960s hit “California Dreamin’” recorded by Jarvis Cocker in 2020.

“As the wildfires were raging and destroying thousands of homes around Los Angeles, both my neighborhood and Nick’s were instructed to evacuate. But we were the lucky ones. The fire threatening our homes and recording studios was thankfully extinguished by firefighters just minutes away, but countless musicians and friends lost everything” says Haskins.

“This harrowing experience and witnessing the monumental destruction of entire communities, inspired Nick and I to team up to create a compilation album to raise money for the less fortunate. We reached out to our musician friends for unreleased recorded gems and the response was incredible! PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Primal Scream, Gary Numan and Devo are just some of the artists that rushed in to help.”

The compilation is only available by purchasing a download. All proceeds from the compilation will go to Sweet Relief and will be sold exclusively via Bandcamp.

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund provides services and financial assistance for career musicians and music industry professionals. Grants are earmarked for medical and vital living expenses, including insurance premiums, prescriptions, medical treatment and operative procedures, housing costs, food costs, utilities, and other basic necessities.

Wallows launches next tour with news of the 'More' EP

Wallows will unveil their new 'More' EP on March 28 via Atlantic Records. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE. For Record Store Day, a limited-edition evergreen and white vinyl pressing and CD version will exclusively hit the shelves of independent record stores worldwide on April 12. The band paved the way for 'More' with their latest single “Your New Favorite Song.” There is also a video for the track - WATCH HERE.

Wallows delivered the debut live performance of “Your New Favorite Song” on Aussie radio/Triple J’s first ‘Like A Version’ of the year, along with covering The Marias “No One Noticed” HERE. Both performances and the full interview are available on Triple J’s YouTube channel. Additionally, their single from Model, “Calling After Me,” landed at #75 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2024. This marked Wallows’ first appearance on the acclaimed station’s countdown and was notably the highest charting US band.

Wallows have also announced more dates for 2025’s Model & More Tour. The new headline dates begin May 9 in Mexico City, Mexico and run through June 15 in Asheville, NC. Wallows' 2024 Model Tour hit Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia last fall into year's end. The band's biggest headline run to date, The Model Tour saw the band showcasing songs from Model alongside fan favorites from their RIAA Gold-certified debut, Nothing Happens, and its acclaimed follow-up, Tell Me That It’s Over. Coachella Festival '25 news: Kraftwerk adds headline dates to multimedia tour

In 2025, pioneering German electro band KRAFTWERK, with co-founder Ralf Hütter, will return to North America to commemorate their breakthrough album Autobahn and their first U.S. Tour, which took place in 1975. 

Kraftwerk have announced five additional dates celebrating their 50 Years of Autobahn with multimedia concerts. Tickets for the new shows are on sale now. For more info, see www.kraftwerktour25.com.

Bringing together music, visuals and performance art, Kraftwerk concerts are a true “Gesamtkunstwerk - a total work of art.” The new dates join previously announced shows to be held across America and Canada starting on March 6, 2025 in Philadelphia. Other markets planned for the tour include Memphis, Nashville, Chicago and more with shows in Pittsburgh, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Toronto, New York (with dates in Brooklyn and Manhattan), Atlanta and Detroit with limited tickets remaining and Montreal already sold-out. Coachella Festival '25 news: Lady Gaga's "Mayhem' album slated for March; another Grammy win

Lady Gaga added to her impressive Grammy count over the weekend in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Bruno Mars collaboration "Die with a Smile." She paired with Mars on the award telecast on a cover of The Mamas and Papas' "California Dreaming."

That followed her closing set at the FireAid benefit at the LA Forum a few days prior for victims of the wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena, Calif.

Now Gaga has debuted the single and video for “Abracadabra,” from her seventh studio album, MAYHEM, due March 7 via Interscope Records. Airing during a commercial break for Mastercard® at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards®, the video serves as a striking backdrop for the song, which paints a picture of life’s trials as a metaphorical party. The video—directed by Lady Gaga, Parris Goebel, and Bethany Vargas—and featuring choreography by Parris Goebel, showcases a dance battle between the light and dark sides of Gaga. Gaga collaborated with Goebel to create the dance sequences, which were brought to life by a community of 40 dancers. Styled by Peri Rosenzweig and Nick Royal, the creatives behind HARDSTYLE, Gaga’s costumes include pieces like an upcycled white cape crafted from vintage wedding dresses. 

MAYHEM explores themes of chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke, and heal.

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” said Gaga. Far from a nostalgic throwback, the album reinvents her early sound with a kaleidoscopic approach that draws from her expansive musical library while embracing a fresh and fearless artistic perspective. Gaga describes the creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

Featuring previously released songs “Disease” and “Die With a Smile,” the 14-track project was executive produced by Gaga, Michael Polansky and Andrew Watt. Producers on the album include Gaga, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein.

A music video for “Disease” was directed by Tanu Muino. 

“Die With a Smile,” Gaga’s chart-topping collaboration with Mars, has become a global sensation. Currently in its fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the ballad also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Spotify’s Top 50 Global, setting a record as the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. With over 2.9 billion streams to date, the song earned two nominations for two 2025 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. 

Continuing a landmark year, Gaga will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 17 followed by headlining performances at Coachella on April 11 and 18.

Coachella Festival '25 news: Japanese Breakfast has new album arriving next month; appeared on 'The Tonight Show'

Last night, Japanese Breakfast performed “Orlando In Love” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The track is the lead single from the band’s recently announced new album For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), out March 21 on Dead Oceans. Japanese Breakfast’s world tour tour in support of the album kicks off at Coachella on April 12. Last month, the video for “Orlando in Love” directed by frontwoman/songwriter Michelle Zauner, with cinematography by Peter Ash Lee and Adam Kolodny, was unveiled. In a statement about the video, Zauner said:

“‘Orlando in Love’ is made up of a hodgepodge of odd references. The title comes from an epic poem by Matteo Maria Boiardo called Orlando Innamorato, which ends abruptly at 68.5 cantos because Italy was invaded by French troops, and that’s as far as he got before he had to flee. I fell in love with the title and envisioned a sort of whimsical, foolish male protagonist who lives by the sea in a Winneabeago RV and is seduced by a siren. After writing it, it felt like the perfect thesis statement for an album that is largely about people, often men, who find themselves seduced by temptation and are duly punished for it.

Somewhere along the way I came across Eduard von Grützner’s painting ‘The Connoisseur’ and I started to picture Orlando as a daydreaming friar who can’t help but tipple of the Abbey’s brews. He dreams of his siren and despite the dream’s foreboding imagery, decides he must run and find her. The siren is played by my dear friend Jungle, whom I spent most of my time with in Korea this year. The friars are played by Missy Dabice from Mannequin Pussy, making her return to the Jbrekkie Cinecanon, and Molly Germer. We filmed half of the video in Korea with Peter Ash Lee, who shot the cover of Jubilee, and half of it at my alma mater, Bryn Mawr College, with my longtime collaborator and DP, Adam Kolodny.”

Melancholy Brunettes was produced by Grammy Award winner Blake Mills and tracked at Sound City in Los Angeles. It follows a transformative period in Zauner's life during which her Grammy nominated breakthrough album Jubilee and her bestselling memoir Crying In H Mart gained mainstream attention.

Reflecting on that success, Zauner came to appreciate the irony of desire, which so often commingles bliss and doom. “I felt seduced by getting what I always wanted,” she says. “I was flying too close to the sun, and I realized if I kept going I was going to die.”
