Iggy & the Stooges' debut album on limited edition reel-to-reel

The Stooges’ self-titled debut from 1969 is being revisited through a new audiophile edition of available on reel-to-reel from Rhino High Fidelity.

The Stooges (Rhino High Fidelity R2R) was duplicated in real time from a 1:1 copy of the original flat analog master tape. The result is a master-quality listening experience that captures the recording’s full dynamics. The 15 i.p.s. half-track 1/4” tape is produced to the IEC equalization standard on premium RTM LPR90 tape stock and stored on a 10.5” metal reel. The Reel-to-Reel edition is limited to 350 copies worldwide and available exclusively at Rhino.com.

Iggy Pop (aka Iggy Stooge on this album), Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton, and Dave Alexander left Ann Arbor, Michigan, to record their debut in New York with producer John Cale. Across eight tracks, the band’s visceral rhythms and roaring guitars fused with Iggy’s confrontational vocals, forging an elemental sound that was ahead of its time. “1969” opens the album with a sneer, while “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “No Fun” bristle with the quartet’s primal power. Cale, who played viola on the Velvet Underground’s first two albums, also plays it here on the eerie, experimental “We Will Fall.”

Largely overlooked when it came out, The Stooges is now regarded as one of rock’s most vital debuts and continues to reach new generations. When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the band in 2010, it described them simply as “punk before punk existed.”

Out now: Dustin Lynch album 'Clean Slate'

Dustin Lynch releases his seventh studio album, Clean Slate, today via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The title track is a personal reflection on losing your way and wondering whether it's too late to find your way back. Building slowly around a hurt he can't quite explain, Lynch inhabits the mind of a wide-eyed desperado who has spent too long giving his angels the cold shoulder.

“There's something compelling about the idea of a clean slate that signifies and promises a new chapter. I think we've all had moments where we look at our lives and wonder how we got to where we are,” shares Lynch. “What I love about this song is that it is a hard look in the mirror. That felt like the right message to build this album around.”

“How You Been” a collaboration with Ashley Cooke, revisits a summer romance through a phone call that brings every memory rushing back. Lynch has described the duet as a second chapter to his hit “Thinking ’Bout You.” Listen HERE.

“I’m so happy to finally have a song out with Ashley. She sounds incredible on ‘How You Been,’ and from the first time I heard it, it felt like the perfect song for us to do together,” shares Lynch. “To me, it feels like chapter two of ‘Thinking ’Bout You.’ It’s that idea of reconnecting with somebody from your past and realizing those memories might still mean something to both of you. Ashley brings so much personality to her side of the song.”

“The second I heard this song, I was beyond excited Dustin asked me to be a part of it,” shares Cooke. “Not only is it an absolutely infectious melodically, but lyrically it packs a punch and has that clever double entendre I really love in a song. It’s that ‘invisible string’ story in a way that feels fun and flirty. Great song and even better duet partner, what more could you ask for?”

Closing album track “Home To You” is a collaboration with electronic duo MC4D.

Early Blancmange albums to get special colored LP, CD reissues in December

UK synth-pop outfit Blancmange’s first three studio albums: Happy Families (1982), Mange Tout (1984) and Believe You Me (1985) are to be reissued by London Records on LP and CD on Dec. 4.

Each album features freshly restored artwork and will be available on vinyl (new 2026 vinyl cuts, faithfully following the original track listings), and on CD, each featuring bonus tracks including B-sides, extended versions and remixes.

The three first Blancmange albums saw Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe notch such UK top 10 hits as “Living On The Ceiling,” “Blind Vision,” and "Don't Tell Me."

Happy Families is reissued on transparent orange vinyl. The CD version features studio B-sides, some BBC session tracks and contemporary remixes of “Living On The Ceiling” by Roman Flügel and Richard Norris, both available on CD for the first time.

Mange Tout is released on transparent green vinyl, with the CD featuring B-sides, extended versions and Honey Dijon’s rework of “Blind Vision,” available here on CD for the first time.

Believe You Me is pressed on transparent yellow vinyl, and the CD features B-sides and extended versions.

Following a concert for Greenpeace at the Royal Albert Hall in April 1986, Blancmange decided to take a 25-year pause, coming back for 2011’s Blanc Burn album. Due to ill health, Stephen opted to step away from Blancmange duties the following year, leaving Neil to carry on with a series of albums including a return to London Records with Private View in 2022. Stephen died last year.

Pre-order now alongside limited test pressings from The Official Blancmange Store.

Everything But The Girl dip into the musical 'Blue Reservoir' early next year

Blue Reservoir, the 11th studio album from Everything But The Girl - the UK duo formed in 1982 by singer-writer-musicians Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt - and will be released on Buzzin’ Fly through Virgin Music Group on February 19. First single “Young and Dumb” and accompanying music video (treatment by Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, directed by Edward Bishop) is out now.

The album sees the duo put aside the electronica of 2023’s Fuse, and lean into some of their foundational influences and ideas.

“There was an intensity and simplicity to the 'Moth' shows (a 2025 UK club residency) that took us back to how we started out,” says Thorn. “Direct, rooted in guitar and voice, a few extra colors. We hadn’t been in that world for a long time and it just felt fresh and real.”

Uplifted, Watt bought a Spanish nylon-string guitar in January 2026 to write and perform on. “It is the sound of so much of the music I first connected with growing up, and I’d never actually owned one. It became quite an emotional springboard for me. I found a voice I thought I’d lost.”

The music came together in the first few weeks of 2026. If the results (nine written on guitar, one on piano) draw on Watt’s signature Latin-influenced lyricism, British folk-blues improvisation and song-driven storytelling, the lyrics (six by Thorn, three by Watt, one co-write) look forward and back through time.

The album of ten original songs was recorded largely live at RAK Studios in London over ten days in July 2026. Watt’s guitars - both nylon-strung rhythm and electric lead - are augmented by long-standing collaborators Rex Horan (double bass) and Evan Jenkins (drums). The percussionist is Fabio de Oliveira (Babo Moreno), son of Brazilian percussion legend Bosco de Oliveira - a central figure on Thorn and Watt’s debut album, Eden in 1984. The pair’s own son, Blake Watt (Family Stereo), part of the Moth club line-up, guests on two songs. Additional overdubs (harmonium, celesta, tape loop atmospheres) were recorded by Watt at the duo’s home studio in north London.

Track listing:

2) Scala
3) Young and Dumb
4) Do What You Can
5) Christmas Gone

Chvrches ready 'All The King’s Men' for January

Chvrches just released “Overthinker,” the second single from their upcoming full-length effort. It is BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record.

All The King’s Men, the band’s first album in almost six years, is due for release on January 22 on LP, CD, cassette and digital formats via Futures.

The Scottish band - Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty - eschewed the remote working of 2021's UK Top 10 album Screen Violence to meet for multiple, intense three-week stints in Glasgow. They knew recording in-person and in Scotland was exactly the environment necessary for experimentation on this record. ‘Roses’ is contemporary social commentary, a confrontation with the darker undercurrents of Britain.

Long-awaited new Mission (UK) album to arrive next spring

The Mission (UK) will return with their first new studio album in over a decade next April, with the release of 'Songs For Kith And Kin.' Originally planned for 2025, its creation was delayed by lead singer Wayne Hussey having open-heart surgery, and that experience along with his recuperation, has shaped the nature of the new music.

“It’s definitely had an influence lyrically: almost every song mentions ‘heart’. Really, the surgery has made me care even less what others think. I’m doing what I want to do in the new songs, what feels natural,” he reveals. The first single is Kindness Is A Weapon.

“On previous records, there's always been one track I've always thought, yeah, this screams out to be the first single. You think about ‘Wasteland’, you think about ‘Tower of Strength’, or ‘Butterfly on a Wheel’, these songs scream first single. And I didn't have that feeling on this record about a first single because there's maybe 7 or 8 singles that could come from this album,” says Wayne.

“However, we had been playing a version of this song live for about six months before we had to take the hiatus for my surgery, so some of our audience already knew it. I’d come up with the title first, but I was writing new lyrics for it up until the final recording in June this year. You can use kindness as a weapon for good, and you have to let things go at some point. Musically it’s got plenty of elements of classic Mission about it, but there’s elements of classic rock too. It maybe pushes the envelope a little bit for us in terms of sound, but at the same time, it's also in keeping with what we've done in the past. There's plenty of testosterone in that track.”

Watch the lyric video for ‘Kindness Is A Weapon’ HERE

'Songs For Kith And Kin' is a modern guitar album where, despite the inclusion of various other instruments – including keyboards, cinematic orchestral scores, sitar, tamboura and more – the core sound is two guitars working with one another.

“There’s a chemistry with us that clicks and immediately sounds like The Mission. Being in the studio together makes it very apparent. The funny thing is, I remember noticing that chemistry right back in our first rehearsals in 1985,” comments lead guitarist Simon Hinkler. “Wayne and I have complementary styles that are very different around the edges and meet somewhere in the middle. People have observed that, when we both play the same guitar line simultaneously, something special happens. And there’s a thread that runs through Mission work over the years that makes what we do recognisable. It’s a good thing to have – so many bands don’t.”

The album includes Craig Adams on bass – Hussey’s musical partner since their days in The Sisters of Mercy in the early 80s – as well as featuring the debut on record of Alex Baum, The Mission’s drummer since 2022, who Hinkler credits with bringing an energy and vitality to the band. Baum is also co-writer on ‘Roll With The Punches.’

Recorded by César Lamschtein at Faro House Studios in Jose Ignacio, Uruguay with additional orchestra recordings in Montevideo, the album was produced by Wayne Hussey.
The album will be available on a variety of formats including digital, CD, limited edition vinyl and more. For full details click HERE.

Haircut 100's Nick Heyward to do a rare solo U.S. tour in 2027; Import Retrospective, Memoir on the Way

Next March, Haircut One Hundred frontman Nick Heyward will play select U.S. cities as a solo act for the first time in decades.

“I’ve had people for the last 30 years asking, ‘Are you the 'Kite' guy?’ and I say ‘Yes, indeed. I’m Mr. Kite’,” Heyward says about his 1993 U.S. solo hit.

Reaching #4 in Billboard’s Top Alternative Singles, the single’s Stateside support has reignited his personal desire to return to the U.S. in support of his solo material. “They say, ‘Please come back to America that song means so much to me,’ and so I’m coming back to play acoustically - an acoustic expedition so to speak - to reconnect with people who like my music. My last US tour was in 1994 and I’m really looking forward to playing ‘Kite’ in America again. It’s been too long!”

Artist pre-sale for the short run of intimate venues across the eastern U.S. is live now (PW: ROADTRIP) with general on sale Friday, Oct. 23 at 10:00am Local

“I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore towns like Nashville and Atlanta since touring the U.S. with Haircut One Hundred three times in the last three years,” he continues. “Back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, I didn’t get to play in so many places, so I’m looking forward to exploring more of America on this tour!”

While the tour will reconnect fans who haven’t seen him perform solo in three decades, it’s also helping him reconnect with his own oeuvre, especially his signature song “Kite.” “Americans took ‘Kite’ to their hearts,” he beams. “I love playing songs from [his 1993 fourth solo album] From Monday to Sunday because it reminds me of the KROQ Christmas shows with Tony Bennett, Mazzy Star, and the Lemonheads.”

Taking a bit of a “storytellers” approach to the tour, the stripped-down City Winery environment allows him to talk about the inspirations both personal and fan-focused. Heyward explains, “I do love to talk about the source and the creative process of songs - how they arrive, whether they were an easy birth or whether they were a caesarian, and also what they mean to others now - like a young chap who tracked me down on MySpace to tell me his mum used to play him ‘Kite' as a lullaby before bed. As a budding children’s author this thrilled me.”

In addition to the U.S. tour, Heyward is celebrating a full-on reflective era in his career. November 7 will see the UK release of the solo career retrospective The Essential, a 31-track compilation, as well as Fantastic Days: My Autobiography which will be published on November 5. “It’s clarified so much, filed it neatly and given me a new perspective on the past and a new objective for the future,” he says about both.

Curated by Heyward himself, The Essential Nick Heyward is the first comprehensive collection of his music. All 31 tracks will be released digitally, while the physical editions – double CD and a 14 track green vinyl edition - will be released in the UK and available in the U.S. only as an import (pre-order HERE).

Heyward’s autobiography Fantastic Days is being published on hardback, ebook, and audio book formats (pre-order), It looks back at the artist who scored four top 10 singles, a number two platinum album in Pelican West.

“‘When I stood in my bedroom singing ‘Fantastic Day’ over and over again while learning to play guitar and sing and at the same time, I had no idea it would become so prophetic. Underneath it all they’ve all been fantastic days, but I had to find that out the hard way,” he says about the book. “Sometimes it’s the only way.”

Following three recent U.S. tours with Haircut One Hundred, and with two career-spanning releases arriving this November, Heyward is now turning his attention back to his solo catalogue. In fact, with a pep in his step, this return to America to reignite the Stateside love of his music is just the beginning.

So what’s in store for Nick Heyward? “Music. Sweet, sweet music… the recording of and the live delivery of. It’s as simple as that,” he smiles. “I love writing music and playing music more now than I ever did. That arrived with grey hairs and laughter lines and dental maintenance.”

The Cranberries album reissue news: 'Wake Up and Smell the Coffee'

The Cranberries released their fifth album Wake Up And Smell the Coffee in Fall 2001.

Now it will be re-released in an expanded Deluxe Edition for the 25th Anniversary on January 29 via Geffen/UMe in multiple configurations.

Wake Up And Smell The Coffee reunited the band with producer Stephen Street who helped usher the band into international stardom with their first two albums Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? and No Need To Argue. “The boys were exactly the same; we just picked up where we’d left off which was wonderful,” says Street.

“In Dolores [O’Riordan]’s case, there was no doubt that she’d turned into a star. On the first album, she was a very shy girl from Limerick who didn’t know much about the big bad world, but now she was well travelled and much more confident. Beneath it all, though, she was still the Dolores I knew and loved from the early days and very receptive to my ideas. She was a sweetheart.”

The album featured the singles “Analyse” and “Time Is Ticking Out.”
Drummer Fergal Lawler says, "Creatively, Dolores was on fire.”

Wake Up And Smell The Coffee (25th Anniversary) Deluxe Edition will be released in multiple formats with extra material, including a Limited Edition liquid coffee-filled LP with a scratch & sniff coffee-scented sticker. The 3LP black vinyl and 2CD Limited Edition comes packed with plenty of extras, including B-sides, previously unreleased live songs recorded at Dublin’s Vicar Street, new 2026 stereo mixes by original producer Stephen Street, the sought-after track “7 Years,” and expanded liner notes that includes new photos, liner notes, and a track-by-track retrospective from the band. Other formats include a Limited Edition 1LP in Skyburst Blue vinyl, standard 1LP in black vinyl, 1CD, and the Digital Deluxe Edition which includes all 36 tracks.

Plenty has been going on in the world of Air Supply lately. Last week, the veteran pop duo of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

There is a biopic in the works. 'A Matter of Time,' the new studio album - the first one in 15 years, is due to drop digitally December 3, with the same release date for an exclusive special edition LP edition.

The release coincides with Air Supply’s 50th anniversary as a duo.

While most of the duo’s albums have been produced by Graham, this time Canadian producer Brian Howes (Simple Plan, Men Without Hats), a two-time Juno Award winner, whose resume also includes tracks by American Idol alums Daughtry and David Cook, was at the helm.

A Matter of Time took two years to come together. Howes insisted that all of Graham and Russell’s vocals be done at his studio in Courtenay, Canada, an island off the coast of British Columbia, requiring several trips. The duo recorded live in the studio with their band like in the early days.

Since this may be Air Supply’s final studio album, Graham and Russell sought out the talents of legendary Australian sculptor and painter Brett-Livingstone Strong to create the artwork for the album, which includes an image of Air Supply circa 1981 amidst aliens, faeries, butterflies dinosaurs and cat-driven spaceships, among other colorful “easter eggs.”

“Brian is a great producer to work with, and we loved that he was always open to suggestions,” Russell Hitchcock says. “This creative partnership between myself, Graham and Brian led to a very mature album with great songs. Graham brings a different perspective on life to these tunes. When I sing, I think of different colors and there are so many that inspire me on A Matter of Time.

Stylistically, I love the fact that there’s a great variance from track to track. I think the songs aren’t just ‘I love you and you love me’ and a chorus but lyrically very deep and thought provoking. I’m glad we’re releasing the album on vinyl so that fans can have a deeper appreciation for Graham’s storytelling as they listen.”

Graham adds, “Most artists recording tracks and albums now record one element at a time, then replace everything until it sounds good. “We appreciated the opportunity to create A Matter of Time live. There’s a certain spirit you get when that happens, and over the course of running through a dozen songs, if you’re patient, incredible sweet spots come that you couldn’t capture using a computer recording each musician separately. Our way is more fun and interactive, leading to trying out different notes, chords and overall approaches and ironing out the wrinkles. We ended up here with magic and when you’ve got that, you end up smiling!”

Lead single “Wrap My Arms Around You” was penned by Graham during the pandemic, reflecting on the importance of physical human connection and a time when people would once again be able to hug their friends and loved ones without fear. The power ballad “If Only” features a mellotron element that pays subtle homage to the Fab Four’s “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

“Son of the Father” is from 'A Wall Apart,' Graham’s stage musical about the Berlin Wall. Kennadi Dodds, a 22-year-old Utah-based singer/songwriter, contributed vocals and lyrics to a song as well.

Blondie's first new album in nine years slated for February

High Noon, the twelfth studio album and first collection of new material from Blondie in nine years, will be released February 26 through BMG. First single ‘Spectral Eyes’ is out now.

Pre-order/save High Noon HERE. Listen to ‘Spectral Eyes’ HERE.

For High Noon, Blondie is joined by collaborators such as Johnny Marr, Glen Matlock, Zach Condon of Beirut, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius and others. It also marks the final recording of Blondie co-founding drummer Clem Burke.

At the outset of recording, the band had no way of knowing the significance the album would later carry. Following Burke’s passing in 2025, the record has taken on additional meaning for the band and serves as a document of one of rock music’s longest-running creative partnerships.

“This album is classic Blondie — an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” says Debbie Harry. “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we're living now.”

“It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album,” says Chris Stein. I’m not sure what the fuck I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we're incredibly grateful for all your support over the years."

‘Spectral Eyes,’ was written by Johnny Marr, who also contributes guitar to the song.

Sessions for High Noon began in 2022, with the band recording in New York City alongside producer John Congleton [St. Vincent, The War On Drugs, The Killers], who previously worked with Blondie on their critically acclaimed 2017 album Pollinator.

Much of the material was tracked together in the same room, reflecting the collaborative approach that has long defined the band. David Wrench [Florence and the Machine, Jamie xx, Frank Ocean, Bon Iver] later joined for additional production and mixing.

The visual world of High Noon was conceived by artist and director Rob Roth, who has collaborated creatively with Blondie for over 25 years, dating back to 1999’s No Exit, in partnership with creative studio and production powerhouse Untold Studios.
There will be an upcoming short film directed by Roth featuring music from High Noon.

Album formats include black LP, CD, limited-edition crystal clear ecovinyl (available at select retailers). The official Blondie stores will also offer an exclusive limited-edition red vinyl and cassette, along with merchandise bundles.

Out now: 'A Man from the Future' - Pet Shop Boys' concept album about Alan Turing

Pet Shop Boys’ new album 'A man from the future,' a collaboration with Alan Turing biographer Andrew Hodges is out now on LP, CD, Blu-ray audio and digitally via Parlophone Records. The new musical composition includes songs, spoken word and electronic and orchestral music, and explores eight significant chapters in the life and death of Alan Turing.

Alongside music and lyrics by Pet Shop Boys is a narration, spoken by actress Juliet Stevenson, taken from Andrew Hodges’ book Alan Turing: the Enigma, which has been edited and extended by Neil Tennant and Andrew Hodges. The music is a combination of electronics and strings with string arrangements by Sven Helbig performed by the Manchester Camerata Octet. Boys from Manchester Grammar School choir also sing on four tracks. The album was produced by Pet Shop Boys and Sven Helbig.

The eight tracks explore the life, death and influence of the pioneering British mathematician and cryptanalyst who laid the foundations of modern computing. Turing’s story unfolds chronologically from his school days, with his initial interest in mathematics and science and his realisation of his sexuality, to his university days at Cambridge, his leading role working for the British Government unlocking the German Enigma machine’s encrypted messages during World War II, his place in the invention of the digital computer, his prediction of Artificial Intelligence, his trial and conviction for a homosexual relationship, and then his suicide in 1954.

The last track features a passage recorded by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown from his 2009 statement acknowledging Turing’s ground-breaking work in helping the UK win the war and apologising for the inhumane treatment he received when he was convicted under homophobic laws, which is followed by the posthumous royal pardon granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. The final words evoke the significance of his work for today’s digital world, and leave the listener with questions for the future.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe originally wrote the work with Andrew Hodges in 2012-13 and performed it with the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Singers at a late-night BBC Prom in July 2014 at the Royal Albert Hall. Over a decade later they decided to revise the piece to give it more of an electronic emphasis and Sven Helbig suggested reworking his orchestrations in a more intimate arrangement for eight string players. Andrew Hodges suggested updates to the spoken text.

Pet Shop Boys say: “Our motive in creating this work was to make a musical memorial to Alan Turing who gave so much to his country and the world and was rewarded for it by being prosecuted for his sexuality. Alan made a massive contribution to the defeat of Germany in World War II and was a pioneer of computing, imagining a world with intelligent computers. He also looked forward to a time when being gay would be accepted as normal. In both his professional and private lives, he was ahead of his time.”

Track listing:

1. Natural wonders every child should know
2. He dreamed of machines
3. The Enigma
4. Other ranks
5. The memory and the control
6. The trial
7. Only in his death
8. A man from the future
