Bryan Adams news

Bryan Adams has released a Christmas EP and just revealed the video for his brand-new song, “Joe and Mary.” Directed by Adams, the clip features the Canadian rocker re-imagining the classic Christmas story of Joseph and Mary, cruising around Vancouver in a vintage Buick car with his very own pregnant “Mary” looking for shelter.

Besides “Joe and Mary,” the 5-track Christmas EP includes a new recording of "Must Be Santa," which was previously covered by Bob Dylan, as well as three remastered holiday recordings from his past: “Christmas Time,” “Reggae Christmas” and “Merry Christmas.”

Back in March, Adams put out "Shine a Light," his first studio album since 2015. One song features Jennifer Lopez on vocals and is available on import in America.

Marshall Crenshaw reissue series starts early next year with 'Miracle of Science'

“I love it that phonograph records are popular again,” enthuses Marshall Crenshaw. “They were consigned to oblivion by the music business back when I was recording for Razor & Tie, but now they’re back!”

The artist recently regained ownership of the five acclaimed albums he released on the Razor & Tie label between 1994 and 2003, and plans to issue revised editions of those efforts, on vinyl and on all digital platforms, beginning with his 1996 release Miracle of Science, due on January 17, 2020 on Crenshaw's own Shiny-Tone label (distributed through Megaforce).

Ultimately, the new reissue series will encompass three much-loved studio albums — Miracle of Science, 1999's #447 and 2003's What's in the Bag? — plus 1994's live My Truck Is My Home and 1998's early demos collection The 9 Volt Years. Each album will include two newly recorded, previously unreleased tracks, which will appear on a bonus 7" single on the vinyl editions and as bonus tracks on the CD and digital versions.

"Miracle of Science was a turning point for me," Crenshaw recalls. "I had voluntarily taken myself out of the major-label world. ADAT machines had just come out, so I bought a couple of those and a few other pieces of gear, and now suddenly I could make records at home if I felt like it. That took me back to my roots, you might say; I did about half the album at home by myself. And the other people that played on the record, I still get such a huge kick out of hearing what they did, particularly on the tracks that I recorded at Alex the Great studios in Nashville. There’s a lot of spirit in the music, a lot of fire. The playing is loose and wild — a much different approach from what you hear on my major-label records, and a real breakthrough, for my money.

“Overall, I’d say that there’s a lot of great music on this album, a lot of great noisetoo, and some cool sounds,” he continues. “I’ve seen the songs on the album described as ‘cinematic’ and ‘atmospheric’; that works for me. One of my favorites is ‘What Do You Dream Of.’ I was trying to write a rockabilly song when I started it — you might not guess that. It’s most definitely a love song, but it’s also about how no matter how close you think you are to a loved one, they’ve still got their own personal internal life.”

The new edition of Miracle of Science includes a pair of bonus tracks, “Misty Dreamer” by Scottish indie-pop artist Daniel Wylie, and “What the Hell I Got,” a 1974 number by Canadian artist Michel Pagliaro, which was a monster smash in Pagliaro’s native country, and a regional hit on Crenshaw's hometown radio station CKLW-FM.

"Of all the Razor & Tie albums,” Crenshaw explains, "Miracle of Science was the only one that never had an analog master tape, and I knew that I wanted to create one for this vinyl release. All audio formats have their quirks and idiosyncrasies, and with analog you can pick and choose with tape speed, tape width, tape saturation etc. These are artistic choices because they affect the sound and feel of the thing. Once I knew that I was going down that road, I decided to go further and re-address a couple of the songs on the album. If Francis Coppola can fool around with Apocalypse Now, I can fool around with Miracle of Science, right?

“I got pretty aggressive with ‘Only an Hour Ago.’ Listening in 2019, it seemed that the original production and arrangement were burying the song. So I changed it, mostly using the original elements. And I did a similar thing on ‘There and Back Again.’ There’s a track called ‘Rouh Na Selim Neves,’ which is ‘Seven Miles an Hour’ backwards. As I was reviewing this album a few months ago, I heard ‘Seven Miles an Hour,’ and thought, ‘Hmmm, I bet this track would sound a lot better backwards.’ So I did it and nobody tried to stop me. The original not-backwards version is still on the album too.”

And there’s more.

Crenshaw notes, “As much as I love the artwork on the original CD — which was Grammy-nominated — we couldn’t use it for an LP. There was no way. So art director Paul Grosso came to the rescue and did a beautiful job. And I couldn’t resist paying tribute to the circa-1958 Roulette Records label design. I hope nobody comes after me about that, but we checked and there’s no copyright. It’s a bit of an inside joke for fans of a certain ilk of record-business folklore. Roulette was a great label.

“The result of all this tinkering,” Crenshaw assesses, “is that Miracle of Scienceis all shiny and new to me now, and I love it even more now than before.”

Interview: The Rembrandts' Danny Wilde

As a frequent guest on “Saturday Night Live” in the 1970s, Steve Martin often did a recurring skit with the catchphrase “I’m just a wild and crazy guy.” Danny Wilde, half of veteran pop/rock duo the Rembrandts, jokingly describes songwriting partner Phil Solem in a similar way while referencing “Broken Toy,” a catchy standout on their new album Via Satellite.

“He has a different way to say what’s on his mind than I do. I’m more of a romantic guy; he’s the twisted freak,” explained Wilde, in a phone interview from home in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

With lyrics like “I can’t stop feeling like a broken toy/the way you threw me away made me feel more paranoid/I guess it’s better for you to buy new than repair the cracks,” Wilde said, “It’s such a mouthful. If we do the song live, he has to nail the lyrics. He hasn’t let us down yet.”

Via Satellite is the band’s first studio release together in 18 years. During that period, both guys kept busy with various solo endeavors: Wilde collaborated with Plain White T’s and Jesse Valenzuela of the Gin Blossoms and has a music commercial company; Solem worked with Mandy Moore, Clay Aiken, Dave Barnes and The Honeydogs. Yet they still continued to write and occasionally tour together.

“Phil and I worked at our own pace. When we get together, we’ll show each other our ideas - that is, when we’re in the same town together” (Solem is currently based in Nashville). “When we do that, we work pretty fast...an idea will come up and I’ll go, ‘That’s definitely a Rembrandts song.’”

The new album title has dual references points, with the first being Solem’s lyrics in “Traveling From Home.”

“One of the lines is ‘We beam live via satellite/Portland to the Cumberland Gap.’ I said, ‘That’s a great title for an album.’ Plus, for me it’s a nod to Elvis Presley’s [1973 double live LP] ‘Aloha from Hawaii, Via Satellite.’ In my mind’s eye, I always think of Elvis.”

Then there’s the long distance method the Rembrandts have typically employed to write songs since forming in 1989.

“It’s so much easier than the old days,” Wilde admitted. “I’d get a cassette in snail mail, put it on, listen to it and say, ‘that’s great. I’ve got a bridge for that song.’ Now, I can fire it off instantly. He can put it into his ProTools rig. I can throw it into mine. He can give me (audio) stems or leave a big blank space and ask, ‘what do you want to do here?’ That’s where I’ll add the bridge or chorus. It’s like putting a puzzle together.”

Having been out of the limelight for a while, The Rembrandts wanted to give Via Satellite a fighting chance for exposure, so they signed to Blue Elan Records, an independent artist-driven Los Angeles label whose roster also includes heritage acts Rita Coolidge, Gerry Beckley (America), Jack Tempchin (Eagles songwriter), Rusty Young (Poco), Cherie Currie & Brie Darling (Runaways, Fanny) and The Textones.

“We could’ve self-released the album and it would be out there like every other artist that self releases: it’s available, but without much fanfare,” Wilde said. “When Blue Elan came around, with the publicity and art departments, it felt like an old school record label” that really cares about every detail.

From harmonica on the jaunty, Sixties folk-styled “Me and Fate” and horns driving “Traveling from Home” to a sweeping string section amid “Broken Toy” and Mellotron coloring the lush-to-blaring “Come to Californi-yay,” there are ample sonic nuances within the new songs.

And those trademark Rembrandts harmonies - which first came to national attention from such early ‘90s multi-format radio hits as “Just the Way It Is, Baby” and “Johnny, Have You Seen Her,” not to mention “I’ll Be There for You,” (the Billboard Hot 100 airplay and Adult Contemporary chart-topping television theme song to “Friends”) - are still strongly intact throughout the new material.

“We tend to not follow the trends,” affirmed Wilde. “That’s how we started out and basically we’ve stuck to that throughout our whole career.”

Valenzuela and Wilde contributed a few terrific songs to the Gin Blossoms’ 2018 album Mixed Reality and they have another three on Via Satellite.

“We’re really good friends and he’s just a great hang,” said Wilde. “He’s very encouraging and validates stuff I may be doubtful on. As is Phil. Being a writer, it’s nice to have somebody you’ve known and worked with for years” to bounce things off on.

Examples of Wilde-Valenzuela songwriting for the Rembrandts include the jangly, inviting highlight “Count on You” and closing track “On My Own” (initially intended for Wilde’s 2016 solo EP Take Another Swing). The latter possesses an underlying tension and memorable electric guitar work.

“Phil thought it sounded like a Rembrandts song. I put it aside, we got together and put our stamp on it...We like to paint a little picture; have a mood. I like to think of a song as a visual thing; not just something you listen to, but something you picture as well.”

Speaking of imagery, the band’s new video for “How Far Would You Go” was shot in Lone Pine, a small frontier town in the Central California mountains that has served as the location for scores of films over the years, mainly westerns.

“It’s really beautiful up there with all the cool rock formations. It looks like you’re on another planet or something,” Wilde said. “There was an old silver mine 8,000 feet up in the mountains just above Lone Pine. That’s where we shot the interior stuff and the Old West town-looking bits.”

The singer/guitarists are seen playfully arguing about how to get to their destination as the car’s glove box suddenly opens to reveal a bunch of Twinkies.

“We actually wanted to get even more funny shit in there. There were some gags that didn’t make it. The video turned out really beautiful. It was amazing what our cinematographer and director could pull off with the budget we had for the video. We ended up keeping some of the comedy, but leaning toward, ‘How great is this shot?!’”

This past September marked the 25th Anniversary of sitcom juggernaut “Friends.” Since then, the Rembrandts have made appearances at various pop-up celebrations in Las Vegas, New York City (including NBC’s Today Show Concert Series), Chicago and Seattle to perform “I’ll Be There for You” and other material. A new instrumental version of the theme song was recorded by the London Metropolitan Orchestra and produced by Giles Martin.

Wilde and Solem’s musical history goes back four decades. Before they met in the late ‘70s, Wilde was lead vocalist/guitarist of The Quick. The short-lived Los Angeles glam/power pop band did one album for Mercury Records, 1976’s Mondo Deco. Kim Fowley produced the project, but later bailed and there was no label promotion.

What was it like working with the notorious svengali-type figure, who also oversaw The Runaways, back then?

“He was pretty intimidating - an idea guy and promoter. He and Rodney Bingenheimer [“Mayor of the Sunset Strip,” DJ supporter at KROQ/106.7 FM, now on SiriusXM’s Undeground Garage] owned Hollywood. The very first shows we did were two sold-out nights at the Starwood. His network was crazy and insane. We became a big fish in a small town, if you call Hollywood a small town. We never really left Hollywood. We never toured or anything.”

Real Gone Music released an expanded version last year.

Once The Quick dissolved, Wilde joined Solem and Ian Ainsworth in Great Buildings and made one major label album. Following a few Wilde solo efforts and having some songs recorded by Peter Frampton, Robert Palmer and Charlie Sexton, Wilde and Solem teamed up again for the Rembrandts.

Their self-titled bow was basically put out untouched by Atco Records. Wilde says the organic nature makes it one of his favorites in the catalog.

“I love all the records we’ve done, but I think the first album has a certain charm because of how it came about. There were no expectations and it was really just a demo that got released for our debut album.”

Having played the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin last spring, The Rembrandts plan to do a regular tour in 2020, comprising both acoustic and full band formats. Come February, they will join Train, Matt Nathanson, Kevin Griffin, Mark McGrath, Emerson Hart, Allen Stone and others on the Sail Across the Sun cruise to the Bahamas.

A reunion album by Great Buildings is in the works. Wilde also said he and Solem have enough solid material for another Rembrandts album sooner than later.

“In that whole [18-year] period, we’ve written quite a lot. We’re in the process of digging through the old tunes. There’s a bunch of new stuff too. It’s a great problem to have. Phil and I never stop writing.”

Little Steven update includes new box set, catalog reissues

Little Steven's box set Rock 'n' Roll Rebel – The Early Work is due out Dec. 6 via Wicked Cool/UMe Records.

There is a new theatrical, Gene Kelly-inspired video for his song “Love Again” from his latest album, Summer Of Sorcery, and an exuberant live performance of Bruce Springsteen’s “Tucson Train.” Leading up to the release of the boxed set, Little Steven aka Steven Van Zandt has been steadily releasing digital deluxe editions of the albums included over the last few weeks and today has made available his 1989 album, Revolution, which includes two rare mixes of the title track.

The video for “Love Again” stars Gino Cosculluela, a Top 4 finalist from the most recent season of FOX’s hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance,” who performs skillful vintage-inspired dance sequences in front of rear-screen projections of some of the global landmarks Van Zandt sings about in the soulful, uptempo number.

“I am honored that Gino chose us to be his first project after “So You Think You Can Dance” and I also want to thank my wife Maureen for suggesting I call Nigel Lythgoe who gave us his blessing and amazing positive energy,” said Van Zandt. "‘Love Again’ is one of my two Sam Cooke tributes on the album. It's a fun little fiction about a character who has been burned by a relationship so he travels the world trying to distract himself only to find there's no escape from the addiction of love! The video does an amazing job bringing this song to life in a whole new way.”

When Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul rolled into Colorado on their U.S. tour this past September, Van Zandt and his 14-piece band paid homage to his longtime musical partner Bruce Springsteen with a live performance of his song “Tucson Train,” from his latest album Western Stars. Released today, the performance, recorded September 17, 2019 at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, Colo. is available to stream and download as of today and captures the rollicking band putting their rock n’ soul spin on the song.

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul recently wrapped up two years of near constant touring, totaling 187 shows across North America, Europe, and Australia, with triumphant shows in Boston and New York where they brought the back-to-back Soulfire/Summer Of Sorcery world tour to an end with an epic concert that was filmed for future release.

As announced last month, Little Steven has opened the doors on his personal archive of recordings to present an in-depth look at his solo career with the brand new boxed set, RockNRoll Rebel – The Early Work (Wicked Cool/UMe), which collects his solo work from 1973-1999 – including Artists United Against Apartheid's landmark 1985 LP, Sun City – together with 51 bonus tracks spanning previously unreleased demos, B-sides, rehearsals, outtakes, classic concert performances, and a number of never-before-heard Van Zandt compositions. Little Steven’s RockNRoll Rebel – The Early Work is available exclusively via the online store uDiscover Music with pre–orders available now here: https://ume.lnk.to/LittleStevenCareer.

“It’s been a blast going through the archives and finding all these hidden gems,” says Van Zandt. “In addition to demos in various stages of completion, there are entire songs I’d completely forgotten about, and we found some really early things pre-Jukes like Southside Johnny and the Kid (the kid being me!). I’m excited to have my stuff back on vinyl for the first time in decades!”

Limited to just 1,000 copies, the bespoke slipcase multi-format boxed set includes remastered editions of five long-out-of-print classic albums – Men Without Women (1982), Voice Of America (1983), Sun City (1985), Freedom – No Compromise (1987), Revolution (1989) and the vinyl debut of Born Again Savage (1999) – across seven-colored vinyl LPs alongside four CDs of rarities and bonus tracks. This also marks the first time Revolution will be released on vinyl in the U.S., having previously only been released in Europe. The set includes liner notes about each of the 51 bonus tracks.

Digital Deluxe Editions of all six albums, complete with corresponding bonus tracks, will be available for download in the weeks leading up to the boxed set’s official release kicking off today with Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul’s 1982 debut album, Men Without Women, joined by 10 exclusive bonus tracks available now. Both RockNRoll Rebel – The Early Work and the Digital Deluxe Edition of Men Without Women include long-lost tracks from what Van Zandt calls the “soundtrack to an unmade film,” including previously unreleased alternate versions of album favorites, “Angel Eyes,” “Forever” and “Until The Good Is Gone.”

In conjunction with RockNRoll Rebel, a limited edition standalone 144-page, 12” x 12” companion book will be released featuring Van Zandt's in-depth liner notes and memories and stories about the making of each album, lyrics to every song and hundreds of never-before-seen photos. It will be available for preorder soon.

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul made their debut with 1982’s Men Without Women, highlighted by a pair of rock radio favorites in the opening “Lyin’ In A Bed Of Fire” and “Forever,” the latter of which spent nine weeks on Billboard’s “Hot 100” while also receiving heavy rotation at the newly launched MTV. Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul celebrated Men Without Women with sold out live dates including a legendary performance at NYC’s famed Peppermint Lounge that saw electrifying renditions of the album’s “Save Me” and “This Time It’s For Real” (written by Van Zandt and made famous by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes), both included on RockNRoll Rebel – The Early Work.

RockNRoll Rebel – The Early Work – which arrives hot on the heels of Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul’s acclaimed latest album, Summer of Sorcery (Wicked Cool/UMe) – features appearances from an assortment of friends, collaborators, and special guests, including Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Rubén Blades, Miles Davis, Gary U.S. Bonds, Dino Danelli, and members of both the E Street Band and the Asbury Jukes.

To coincide with the release of RockNRoll Rebel, Van Zandt will be making select videos from his early career available on his official YouTube channel for the first time as well as offering up a ton of other visuals from the era.

A long awaited return from The Airborne Toxic Event next spring

The Airborne Toxic Event has announced North American tour dates in support of their new album. The tour starts in May in Phoenix and ends with a performance with the SF Symphony at Davies Hall on August 1. The Los Angeles-based band's sixth LP and first new music in half a decade, HOLLYWOOD PARK is out May 8 via Rounder Records. Pre-sale for the tour began Nov. 20 through the band's site with the tickets being available Nov. 22.

HOLLYWOOD PARK arrives alongside a new literary work of the same name by Airborne Toxic Event founder and frontman Mikel Jollett, to be published by Celadon Books (a division of MacMillan) on May 5; pre-orders are available HERE. Hollywood Park sees Jollett chronicling his personal journey, from early childhood in one of the most infamous cults of the 1970s, through a teenage life of poverty and emotional abuse, before finding his voice first as a critically acclaimed writer and then literally as singer and songwriter of The Airborne Toxic Event.

The album was produced by the band's longtime collaborator, Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac). Both the album and book were fueled in large part by the untimely death of Jollett's father.

Prior to their North American tour The Airborne Toxic Event will herald HOLLYWOOD PARK with a pair of four-night-stands at Los Angeles, CA's El Rey Theatre (March 31, April 1, 2, 4) and New York City's Bowery Ballroom (April 7-10); all eight shows sold out within 30 seconds of ticket release.

The Airborne Toxic Event first emerged in 2006, centered around songwriter Jollett, already an acclaimed freelance journalist, editor, and writer whose work had appeared in such publications as McSweeney's, the Los Angeles Times, and FILTER, among many others. The band's self-titled debut album followed two years later, with hit single, "Sometime Around Midnight," an RIAA gold-certified, top 5 hit on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, later ranked at #1 on iTunes' "Best of 2008: Alternative" tally.

They played international festival like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Japan's Fuji Rock and UK's Reading/Leeds. The band have performed with American symphony orchestras - including the Louisville Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra -- in addition to collaborations with the Los Angeles-based Calder Quartet, the Lalo Guerrero School of Music Choir, and Los Angeles' Belmont High School Marching Band, among others.

HOLLYWOOD PARK marks The Airborne Toxic Event's first new album since 2015's DOPE MACHINES and its limited edition companion volume, SONGS OF GOD AND WHISKEY, both followed in 2016 by the standalone single, "America."

Out now: Tom Goss album 'Territories'

Singer, songwriter and veteran musician Tom Goss has released seventh studio album Territories. It includes the latest single and piano-driven ballad "Berlin," which is based on a personal tale about finding another lover after learning of his husband's infidelity.

Goss also issued the black and white music video for the song, filmed in Berlin. PRESS HERE to watch. Amidst the darkest hour of their marriage, Tom and his husband chose an unconventional solution in an effort to steady the ship - staying married but initiating "an open relationship with boundaries." Soon after, Goss took a trip to Berlin, where he started to discover what love and sexuality meant to him. As he began to fall in love with someone else, Goss learned to process how he could love both a new man and his husband. PRESS HERE to download/stream "Berlin."

"This record speaks of love in so many complicated ways," Goss shares. "I don't believe life is black-and-white. When I went through the whole experience, I believed myself to be a horrible failure, but that's not fair. We're constantly changing as humans. We compare ourselves to an ideal, or singular perception, and that's not real. I'd like to send the message that it's okay if your history is imperfect, your love still is."

Previous single "La Bufadora" depicts a fictionalized story of an abusive relationship while highlighting the reality of domestic violence within the LGBTQ community. Statistics show that within the LGBTQ community, intimate partner violence occurs at a rate equal to or higher than that of the heterosexual community. Proceeds from the song and video will be donated to the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the Los Angeles LGBT Center; PRESS HERE to watch the video starring Mean Girls actor Daniel Franzese.

First single "Quayside" tells the story of diving into a polyamorous relationship, a journey littered with potential dangers. The track wrestles with Goss' own perceptions of love and relationships, providing a candid snapshot of his own life. PRESS HERE to watch the official music video.

Tom Goss is a singer-songwriter who went from a quiet childhood in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to wrestling at the college level in Missouri before eventually entering a Washington, DC seminary, leaving the priesthood after a year, and marrying his husband.

Since the launch of a successful music career in 2006, the Los Angeles-based artist has delivered six fan-favorite independent albums, generated over 10 million collective streams and 12 million views, landed syncs everywhere from ABC and HBO to Univision, and performed alongside Andy Grammer, Taylor Dayne, and more.

Tom Goss is currently in the midst of a US headlining tour, with European stops this December. PRESS HERE to view all upcoming tour dates.

Simply Red brings the funk and soul on new album

photo: Dean Chalkley, courtesy Missing Piece Group PR
Simply Red has release their 12th studio album, Blue Eyed Soul via BMG. It was written by singer and band leader Mick Hucknall and produced by long time collaborator Andy Wright.

Recorded live, with few overdubs, Blue Eyed Soul draws inspiration from classic funk and soul: Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland and Tower of Power. Purchase or download HERE.

"This record is a bit more raw and a bit more rough n' ready," Hucknall told Billboard in a recent interview. “At this stage of my career, I could do one of those dark reflective albums looking back on my life and all that kind of stuff that people tend to do at a certain age,” Mick Hucknall admits. “But I thought sod that! I wanted to make something punchy. I want to have a good time.”

Simply Red also recently released a lyric video for the single "Thinking of You." Watch it HERE.

After 40 years of making records (with punk band The Frantic Elevators, solo and various line ups of Simply Red) Hucknall wanted to create something tailored to the core strength of his band.

“I asked myself, what would these guys really like to play, night after night? I want them to enjoy playing, for crowds to get up and move around, and everybody to put their heart into it. It’s all about capturing the groove.”

Simply Red have over a billion hits on YouTube, have sold over 60 million albums worldwide, 5 going to number one in the UK. Their 1991 effort Stars was the best-selling album for two years running in Britain and Europe.

They have had two US Billboard chart toppers with classic singles "Holding Back The Years" and "If You Don’t Know Me By Now." Every Simply Red studio album has been a UK top ten (with previous release Big Love reaching number 4 in 2015). Hucknall has been the songwriter and bandleader since the beginning in 1985, aided since 1986 by long-serving saxophonist Ian Kirkham.

The Black Crowes' Chris and Rich Robinson will herald the thirty-year anniversary of their quintuple platinum debut album Shake Your Money Maker with a world tour beginning next June in Austin, Texas.

Tickets and VIP packages are on sale now. The band will play that album in its entirety plus hits from the catalog. The Robinson brothers have not played a show since 2013.

Chris Robinson says of reuniting, "I'm thrilled and blessed to be playing with my brother celebrating the music we've made and bringing our lives together full circle. Long live Rock n' Roll & The Black Crowes."

Rich Robinson adds, "First and foremost, I'm really happy to have my brother back in my life. To be able to play music again together and celebrate the first record we made as kids, is a gift. To have these songs stand up after 30 years is something I could've never fathomed."

In 1990, with Shake Your Money Maker, the group became known for hits like "Jealous Again," "Twice As Hard," "She Talks To Angels" and a cover of Otis Redding's "Hard To Handle," topping Rolling Stone's "Best New American Band Readers Poll" late that year.

The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums.
