The Church has a new album, tour on tap with Afghan Whigs

The Church and The Afghan Whigs will team up for a co-headline tour of North America this summer. Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday, February 9. Special Guest Ed Harcourt supports all dates except Brooklyn where Kristin Hersh will open the show.

The Church will also be offering a limited number of VIP packages on this tour, which will include a show ticket, early venue access, an invitation to the band’s soundcheck, a special meet & greet with the band, exclusive merch items, and watching a portion of the show itself from the side of the stage (where available). The Artist Presale begins Tuesday, February 6 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time for tickets + VIP (presale passcode is available only through our new nightfriends fan community - details below).

In addition, The Church is set to officially release their 27th studio album Eros Zeta And The Perfumed Guitars on March 29. A companion album of sorts to 2023's The Hypnogogue, Eros Zeta was previously only available on their worldwide tour last fall.

Over the course of fifteen tracks, it serves as a continuation of the dystopian storyline. Picking up the loose narrative thread of a failed rockstar (“Eros Zeta”) trying to reclaim his faded glory through the use of a dream extractor, “the Hypnogogue.” The second single from the collection, “A Strange Past,” (out now) follows the initial single “Realm of Minor Angels” which was released last September.

Says Church founder/vocalist/bassist Steve Kilbey enigmatically of the track, “A foolish man who needs to wise up looks back in regretful nostalgia upon a fling he should’ve flung away. The musical genesis of this piece was a while ago via [guitarist Jeffrey Cain], but when the Hypnogogue reared its dystopian but not ugly head we felt 'A Strange Past' had found its true home.”

A companion book, Eros Zeta and The Hypnogogue written by Kilbey in his lyrical and elegant prose, expanding the universe that he created with these two albums, is now available wherever eBooks are sold.

While it’s the first time The Church and The Afghan Whigs are heading out together for a full tour, a lot of history and a lot of love already exists between the two groups.

The Lemon Twigs already have another new album ready for May

The Lemon Twigs' next album A Dream Is All We Know arrives May 3 on Captured Tracks. It follows 2023’s Everything Harmony. Last week, the duo of brothers Michael and Brian D’addario informally announced the new album on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with a performance of new single “My Golden Years”. Watch the full performance on Fallon here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XqW8XmYCto

The next single, “They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place”, has a video sporting tiny versions of the guys running amuck in the Borrowers style.

Leaving behind the nylon string-based arrangements of Everything Harmony, A Dream Is All We Know revisits the style the brothers first introduced on Do Hollywood — pairing theatricality and glam rock, contemporary narratives, electric guitar riffs, harmonies and ingenious recording techniques. 

The new songs were recorded entirely on period-specific equipment and mixed and mastered by Brian and Michael themselves.

Garbage to issue expanded version of 'Bleed Like Me' on various formats including vinyl

Alternative rock band Garbage is making their 4th studio album, Bleed Like Me, available on vinyl for the first time since it was originally released in 2005. Bleed Like Me is out on April 5 via UMe. Fully remastered for 2024, this expanded reissue of 2005’s Bleed Like Me includes 2CD, 1LP white vinyl, deluxe 2LP red vinyl, and HD digital formats and features b-sides, rare tracks, remixes and alternate versions of tracks.

Speaking about the new Bleed Like Me expanded reissue, Shirley Manson says: “This album was tricky to make and resulted in the band taking a 5-year hiatus shortly after it was released. However, over the years, it has become a mainstay of our discography, so we decided to finally make it available on vinyl due to the many pained pleas from our fans’.

Bleed Like Me was a top 5 album chart hit in the UK, US, Australia, and the European Billboard chart upon its initial release in April 2005. The album featured four singles, “Why Do You Love Me,” which was a top 10 single in the UK, “Bleed Like Me” and “Sex Is Not The Enemy,” which both went on to be regulars in the band’s live shows and “Run Baby Run,” which was accompanied by a Sophie Muller directed music video.

Garbage are playing some festival shows this year, including European and UK dates at Mad Cool in Madrid (July 10 - 13) and TRNSMT in Glasgow (July 12-14). The band’s new Bleed Like Me expanded reissue is out on April 5.

Buffalo Tom returns with first new album in six years this spring

Buffalo Tom – singer/guitarist Bill Janovitz, bassist/singer Chris Colbourn and drummer Tom Maginnis – will release their 10th album Jump Rope on May 31 via their own Scrawny Records.

At the top of the year, the band released the album’s first single, “Helmet,” with the video premiering as well. On March 8, the trio will release the second album single, “New Girl Singing.”

As they have throughout their career, Buffalo Tom have chosen to partner with a photographer for album and single art that best represents the music. 

“We (Buffalo Tom) and our main art designer, Bob Hamilton, have often relied on a contrast of photography and abstract art for album and single cover designs. We engaged a wide variety of photography through the years like Iranian Magnum photographer Abbas Attar for the cover of Sleepy Eyed, Helen Levitt's Girl Playing At The Side of The Car for the ‘Soda Jerk’ single from Big Red Letter Day,” explains Chris Colbourn.

For their most current releases, the group was inspired by images from street photographer Mark Cohen’s book “True Color.” 

Says Colbourn, “Based in rural Pennsylvania, Cohen's photographs reflect a rural American melancholy. The absence of any fonts or titles brings more attention to the colors and details of the photo -- like the slightly worn and dirty feet of the adolescent jump roper in the album cover image.”

“We are very excited to release Jump Rope and look forward to adding these songs alongside BT classics when we take on whatever limited touring we are able to do,” adds guitarist Bill Janovitz. “We’ve been blown away by the audience response at our most recent sold-out shows.”

Buffalo Tom have several dates confirmed in the U.S., with more to be announced prior to their European tour, beginning later this fall.

Due out April 19, Glen Campbell Duets - Ghost on the Canvas Sessions reimagines his 2011 farewell album with some major music acts. It was recreated posthumously, pairing Campbell’s original vocals with Brian Wilson, Carole King, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Hope Sandoval, Linda Perry, Sting, Brian Setzer and more. Before succumbing to the disease in 2017 Campbell released the inspiring documentary Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, which followed Campbell and his family as they overcame the hardships throughout his farewell tour across the globe.

Out now: Bon Jovi marks 40th anniversary of debut album with deluxe digital edition; special vinyl editions on the way

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band BON JOVI commemorates the 40th anniversary of its self-titled debut with the digital release of BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION on all streaming platforms now via Island/UMe with a special 40th anniversary trailer. Additionally, the GRAMMY Award-winning band has announced the release of an exclusive limited-edition ruby color vinyl LP on March 24 and limited-edition cassette on April 5.

BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION consists of the remastered original album in addition to a total of nine bonus tracks, including unreleased studio recordings and four rare live cuts. Jon Bon Jovi co-produced BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION alongside longtime sound engineer Obie O’Brien who also mixed the bonus material.

This expanded version showcases the evolution of “Runaway”—from Jon’s original cassette writing demo, the band’s early run-through and a full alternate take, to an extended version of the band’s first hit with a ripping second guitar lead. It also features an early incarnation of “Come Back” where Jon sings his idea for a guitar solo.

The live tracks were recorded during the group’s 1985 shows in Tokyo, which were first available on the CD release Bon Jovi: Special Edition in 2010. The live tracks have been newly mixed for BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION and will be available on DSPs for the first time.

Remastered from the original tapes, the limited-edition ruby color vinyl of the band’s original 9-track LP boasts an alternate cover design, high-end tip-on jacket, and an exclusive lithograph of an early Ross Halfin photo session.

Finally, the limited-edition cassette features all of the original album tracks with an enhanced design that now includes lyrics and the original band photo from the LP’s inner sleeve, elements missing from the original U.S. cassette release.

BON JOVI's debut was released on January 24, 1984. It went double-platinum and included “Runaway.” A signature hit, the latter has amassed nearly half-a-billion streams and counting.
