The band began writing the album in early 2020, amid the onset of the global pandemic. After narrowing down the song selection, they hit the studio separately.

"The process was strange but the outcome rocks." - Jack Blades

"This record was incredibly hard to do as we could not be in a room together with all the COVID-19 issues that were going on. But sometimes you do your best work when there’s a deadline approaching." - Kelly Keagy

“It’s been a crazy but fun task trying to write and finish this new record in a Covid situation. A few zoom video gatherings got us started. With everybody in the band having their own home studios, we were all able to elaborate and add our own textures to each song. As a Vintage Guitar Collector, I was able to add some great classic sounds to rhythm and solos using my 57 Strat and 52 Goldtop! I hope everyone enjoys the record!" - Brad Gillis

Night Ranger has sold over 17 million albums worldwide.

"ATBPO" is available on CD, Digital, and the following LP versions:

Veteran Aussie rocker Hoodoo Gurus unveils new song 'World of Pain'

Hoodoo Gurus are marking their 40th year as a band with a forthcoming studio album (as yet untitled and scheduled for release later in 2021).

The new single, “World of Pain,” is out now. Watch the video here:
https://youtu.be/K6cGXNOAYHc

Speaking about the song, Hoodoo Gurus frontman Dave Faulkner says: “‘World Of Pain’ details the misadventures of a night on the town, beginning with a drunken altercation with another punter (“Your fist smashes my face/Chairs fly all over the place/What a sorry sight”) and concludes with our hapless narrator waking up in bed fully dressed, in the throes of a hangover, all the while trying to remember where he last saw his cellphone. That’s a world of pain indeed. Mind you, this is a fictional story, you understand.”

The long-awaited album is the band's first in more than a decade (the longest interval between Hoodoo Gurus albums in their history) and comes in tandem with a return to the concert stage including rare U.S. dates.

As Faulkner explains: “The last 12 months have been frustrating and nerve-racking for everyone, but for the Hoodoo Gurus this dark cloud has had a silver lining. Forced to rely on ourselves instead of the outside world for validation, there has been a creative rebirth within the band that has resulted in a string of singles and a new album. Most important of all, the musical bonds between the four of us have never been stronger. When the discussions are all about which songs we’re sad about having to leave off the record, that’s a damn good sign. I’m tellin’ ya, folks, we’ve got a real spring in our step right now.”

The event-filled calendar for Hoodoo Gurus in 2021 comes after the release of three tracks in the last 18 months. “Answered Prayers” emerged in late 2019, followed by “Hung Out to Dry” in July 2020 and “Get Out of Dodge” in October of last year.

Since their formation in 1981, Hoodoo Gurus earned nine ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Top 20 albums, nine ARIA Top 40 singles, and a host of multi-platinum albums. The Melbourne power pop band first gained international attention via the 1985 hit “I Want You Back” from the album Stone-Age Romeos and continued with “Bittersweet.” Excluding a 1998-2003 breakup, the guys released albums regularly through 2010 before embarking on a decade-long hiatus.

In 2007, the group was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Two years earlier, a cross-section of the Australian music community paid the band the ultimate homage by lovingly producing a tribute album of Gurus covers entitled Stoneage Cameos.

Artists such as Steve Van Zandt, Manic Street Preachers, Courtney Love and others have all cited the band's influence in the past.

Andrew McMahon pens a memoir; out in October

Southern California singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon, best known for his recording projects
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate, has written a memoir.

Three Pianos will be published by Princeton Architectural Press on October 26. It is told through the lens of McMahon's personal connection to three pianos.

He writes: “This is not a book about the music I have made, it is about how that music and the pianos I have called friends have helped me to make sense of the world. It is a story about family, disease, love and the hunger to be heard.”

For more information on Three Pianos, please visit: https://andrewmcmahon.com/pages/three-pianos-a-memoir

McMahon hasn’t let the pandemic slow him down. He has two shows coming up in Detroit on June 18-19 and last year he headlined a tour of drive-in shows presented by Nederlander Concerts in Anaheim, CA, Monmouth Park, NJ Austin, TX and Chicago, IL celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Jack’s Mannequin album Everything in Transit. He also released his newest track “New Year Song” produced by Suzy Shinn on the first of this year as well as “Get On My Wave” produced by King Tuff last summer. McMahon is currently in the studio working on new music.

The Zombies plan first livestream concert this fall

2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees The Zombies will present their first and only worldwide streaming event with a live concert from the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London on September 18 at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT/8pm BST.

The British pop pioneers will perform a career-spanning concert in Abbey Road’s Studio Two, returning 5 decades later to the hallowed space where they recorded their seminal album Odessey & Oracle in 1967. Fittingly, this event coincides with the start of Abbey Road’s 90th Anniversary celebrations. The concert will be broadcast by Veeps.com, the streaming platform founded by Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden in 2017.

The concert will be followed by an online Q&A Session from Abbey Road with founding members Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone. Hosted from “across the pond” by legendary Rock journalist David Fricke, the band will also field questions from a virtual audience of surprise celebrity guests. Special ticket packages with exclusive merchandise are also available to purchase at https://thezombies.veeps.com/

With all their touring plans postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Zombies jumped at the chance to do a “world tour” in one night. “We’re really excited for this opportunity to reconnect with our fans”, says lead singer Colin Blunstone, “and especially to reach places around the globe like Australia and South America, where we’ve never had the chance to play live before!”

The band is also excited to try out some new songs during the concert. With this forced break from touring, The Zombies current lineup - singer Blunstone and keyboardist Argent, along with Steve Rodford (drums), Tom Toomey (guitar) and Søren Koch (bass) - have been pouring their creative energies into recording the long-awaited follow-up to their Billboard charting 2015 album “Still Got That Hunger”.

According to Argent: “Of course I know these last fifteen months have been testing for everybody. What's suddenly feeling terrific for us though, is at last being able to continue the recording of our new album! We pretty much just completed the fifth song, and there are already three more currently in the pipeline to be rehearsed and recorded. The initial reaction to the completed tracks has been great, and the feeling of excitement is almost like starting again!”

The Zombies first burst onto the scene in 1964 at the forefront of the “British Invasion” with hit singles like “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”. The original members - Blunstone, Argent, Chris White (bass), Paul Atkinson (guitar) and Hugh Grundy (drums) first entered Abbey Road (then called EMI Recording Studios) in June 1967 armed with only a £1000 recording budget from CBS Records, and the ambition to self-produce their second album Odessey and Oracle. The band famously walked into Studio Two on the heels of The Beatles, who had just finished Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...benefiting from the Fab Four’s new advances in multi-track recording, and also the mess they left behind! Recalls Argent, "They left quite a few instruments lying around the Abbey Road Studios, one of which was John Lennon's Mellotron, which ended up all over the album. I didn't ask anybody's permission; I just used it because it was there!"

Released in 1968, Odessey and Oracle was initially a commercial disappointment, leading to the band’s break-up. Ironically, one year later, the last track on the album, “Time of the Season”, became a chart-topping single around the world, and over the decades, Odessey and Oracle, has been rediscovered as a pop touchstone, regularly making “Top Albums of All Time” lists in the likes of Rolling Stone and Mojo.

Following the break-up of the original band, vocalist Blunstone went on to develop an acclaimed solo career (with hits including "Say You Don't Mind," "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted", and “Old & Wise” with Alan Parsons Project) while Argent rocked ‘70’s arenas with his eponymous band ARGENT (“Hold Your Head Up,” “God Gave Rock ‘n’ Roll To You”), but the legend of The Zombies continued to take on a life of its own. By the start of the new Millennium, Blunstone and Argent were inspired to resurrect The Zombies.

With relentless touring and critically-acclaimed new releases, the band slowly reclaimed their legacy while developing new generations of fans. After receiving their 4th nomination in 5 years, and with a groundswell of support from both the public and their peers, The Zombies joined Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, and Roxy Music as the 2019 Class of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Time of the Season” continues to permeate popular culture, featured in an online promotional film for the launch of Chelsea Football Club’s new home kit line, and emblazoned on an exclusive T-shirt debuting at Urban Outfitters this July.

Look for the new Zombies album and concert dates in 2022.
