Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds re-team for world tour

Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds will kick off a U.S. tour in May. Since Dave Matthews Band is not touring this summer, the two musicians and longtime friends are instead taking the opportunity to play a rare series of stripped-down, acoustic dates together.

An online ticket presale for the tour will begin on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 10 AM ET at www.warehouse.davematthewsband.comfor members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 AM local time.

Next week, Matthews & Reynolds will play a pair of sold-out shows in Texas. They'll head to the Mexican Riviera in February to headline three concerts on Barceló Maya Beach as part of Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive coastal concert vacation.

A limited number of packages are still available.

For complete details, visit http://daveandtimrivieramaya.com. Matthews & Reynolds will kick off a spring European tour with a two-night stand at London's Eventim Apollo (March 20 & 21).

As a duo, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds have released three live double-CDs together: Live At Luther College (1999), Live At Radio City (2007) and Live In Las Vegas (2010).

Matthews is the lead vocalist/guitarist for Dave Matthews Band, which has sold more than 20 million tickets and a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined. It is the first group in history to have six consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He released his solo debut, Some Devil, in 2003 and the lead single, "Gravedigger," won a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.

Reynolds is a self-taught player of the sitar, solo jazz guitar, solo djembe, twelve-string guitar, violin and mandolin, along with his acoustic and electric guitars. In addition to his work with Dave Matthews Band, he records and performs with TR3, the electric trio he founded in the 1980s. His new solo acoustic CD, That Way, features 14 new original songs.

Ed Sheeran news

Ed Sheeran has unveiled details for his new album. Titled “÷” (pronounced divide), the multi-Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter’s third studio album arrives on March 3 via Atlantic Records.

“÷” will be available for pre-order here beginning at midnight ET on Friday, January 13. All pre-orders will include instant grat downloads of the recently released “Castle On The Hill” and “Shape Of You,” which just broke the record for single-day streams on Spotify with 7,940,950 streams, topping Adele’s “Hello”.

Sheeran commented – “First off, what a week! The reaction to my new singles has been absolutely mind-blowing and I can’t thank you enough. My new album ÷ holds a very special place in my heart and I really believe this is my best work to date. I’ve been eager to get back and I couldn’t be more excited for March 3rd.”

One of the most anticipated global releases of 2017, “÷” was recorded between LA, London, Suffolk and while crossing the Atlantic aboard the RMS Queen Mary 2. Executive produced by multi-Grammy winner Benny Blanco and Sheeran himself with additional production coming from frequent collaborator Johnny McDaid, Grammy winner Mike Elizondo, and BRIT Award winner Steve Mac. Sheeran also created the album artwork concept for “÷” , even painting the cover himself.

Unveiled in tandem last Friday, the album’s first singles “Shape Of You” and “Castle On The Hill” logged over 13 million global streams in the first 24 hours, breaking Spotify's 'day 1' streaming record.

With "Shape Of You" tallying 6,868,642 streams and "Castle On The Hill" landing 6,168,395 streams, both of the new tracks have individually had overtaken the previous 'day one' record holders (One Direction logged 4,759,698 streams with "Drag Me Down" in August 2015) marking another record-breaking milestone in his career.

Meanwhile, the accompanying lyric videos received over 60 million combined hits, having amounted over 10 million views in the first 24 hours - these mark his fastest-ever video launches, with the accompanying official videos still to come.

Despite being out of the spotlight for nearly all of 2016, Ed’s name was still associated with some of the year’s biggest hits. As one of the world's most in-demand songwriters, he penned “Cold Water” for Major Lazer and “Love Yourself” for Justin Bieber.

“Love Yourself” is up for “Song of the Year” at this year’s Grammy Awards, earning Sheeran his 11th Grammy nomination. Sheeran himself is very familiar with this category – which specifically recognizes and honors songwriters - having been previously nominated for this award twice before, winning last year for his 7x-Platinum hit “Thinking Out Loud.”

Classic Roy Orbison concert film gets reimagined, expanded

This should be amazing. I can't wait to see it...

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Roy Orbison’s renowned 1987 televised comeback concert at the Coconut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles, Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings and Roy’s Boys LLC, the Nashville-based company founded by the late icon’s sons to administer their father’s catalog and safeguard his legacy, are releasing Black & White Night 30.

The re-imagined, re-edited, remastered and expanded version of the original television special will be available both as a CD/DVD set and as a CD/Blu-ray set on Feb. 24. PBS will also air Roy Orbison: Black & White Night 30 during the month of March as part of their special programming.

Black & White Night 30 is now available for pre-order: http://smarturl.it/roy_bawn30_amzn

By the mid-1980s, Roy Orbison had been out of the limelight for quite some time, but his song “In Dreams” was prominently featured in David Lynch’s landmark 1986 noir film Blue Velvet and helped reignite interest in the ‘Big O.’

On Sept. 30, 1987, Orbison, then 51, staged a remarkable comeback with the help of guest musicians whom he had influenced: Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes. The all-star concert at the Ambassador Hotel’s Cocoanut Grove night club was turned into a television special and broadcast as Roy Orbison & Friends: Black & White Night on Cinemax the following January, less than a year before the icon’s untimely passing.

Black & White Night 30 is NOT a reissue. Because the concert had been shot using seven separate cameras, there were hundreds of hours of footage that went unused and unseen. Roy’s youngest son Alex Orbison and his co-editor Luke Chalk have gone back and re-edited the entire performance so that while the look will be familiar to those that have seen the original version, the vast majority of footage in Black & White Night 30 has never been seen before by the public.

Furthermore, the program has been restored to reflect the correct set order, so that viewers can see Roy, brilliantly backed by Elvis Presley’s TCB Band (James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, Jerry Scheff, Ron Tutt), blast through massive Orbison hits such as “Only the Lonely,” “In Dreams” and “Crying” just as the star-studded live audience witnessed them on that very night.

The bonus features included in Black & White Night 30 are remarkable in both size and scope. These include a previously unseen alternate version of Orbison’s biggest hit “Oh, Pretty Woman” and a previously unseen “Blue Angel.” Then, unbeknownst to just about everyone but those that were there in 1987, Roy and friends and the full band regathered onstage after the show had ended and after the audience had left. A ‘secret concert’ of five songs followed and is presented here for the first time. The “secret concert” features alternate takes of “Dream You,” “Comedians,” “Candyman,” “Claudette,” and “Uptown” with shooting stopped only after film ran out in the middle of the latter song.

These ‘secret’ performances have been highly sought after by fans for decades. All tracks, including all ‘secret concert’ alternate versions have been freshly remastered by Richard Dodd. The audio for the concert is available on CD with buyers of Black & White Night 30 receiving a download code for access to the audio records of the ‘secret concert.’

Also included is a brand new 33-minute mini-documentary consisting of rehearsal footage and pre and post show interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne from that night. Absolutely none of this content has ever been released commercially, and until recently, has only been rumored to exist.

Black & White Night 30’s bonus features are capped with a montage consisting of 20 still photos from the show and new photos of show memorabilia, mostly unused and unseen in any context. Liner notes written by son Roy Orbison Jr. are included in the brand new, yet thematically consistent, packaging.

Just as the original Black and White Night was televised almost three decades ago, so too will Roy Orbison: Black & White Night 30, this time as part of PBS special programming.
