'Sunday Best,' the first solo album in nearly five years by Nick Jonas, is out today via Republic Records—listen HERE. The official music video for single “Gut Punch” can be viewed HERE. It was directed by filmmaker Anthony Mandler.
On the song’s inspiration, Nick shares, “I tend to be hyper critical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, ‘Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?’ As time goes by, the stress and complications of life will weigh on you. It’s important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.”
Nick first debuted “Gut Punch” live last November while on tour in Las Vegas, introducing the song to fans at select stops in the weeks that followed, including a special performance during the Jonas Brothers’ Samsung TV Plus New Year’s Eve celebration.
Earlier this week, Jonas performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (watch HERE), and followed that with an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers (watch HERE). The singer also did a show at NYC's Irving Plaza and hits the Blue Note in LA on Saturday. .
“I’m so excited to share these new stories, candid thoughts, quiet walks home in the city, and snapshots of my life over these past few years. And while this album was made over the course of the last two years, it was truly 33 years in the making.”
