Harry Styles
' just unveiled the new single and video, “As It Was,” the lead single from his new album Harry’s House due May 20 on Columbia Records. The music video for “As It Was,” shot last month in London, finds Harry collaborating with Ukrainian Grammy-nominated director Tanu Muino. Listen to “As It Was” here and check out the video here.

“Directing a Harry Styles video was a bucket list dream come true for me as he’s my favorite performer,” says Tanu. “Shooting him was bittersweet as it was one of the happiest days of my life, but on the second day of the shoot, my country Ukraine was invaded so you can imagine the insane emotions we had while shooting. Me and my team from Ukraine poured so much love into this video and you can see it on screen. It will be a music video I will never forget and now I can happily retire.”

Harry’s House is the third solo studio album from Harry Styles and first music release since 2019’s sophomore album Fine Line. The new 13-track full-length album was recorded in multiple locations across the UK, Los Angeles and Tokyo from 2020 to 2021. It was written by Harry alongside frequent collaborators Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, and Mitch Rowland. Harry’s House is available for pre-order at all physical and digital retailers globally. In addition, exclusive configurations will be available at select retailers nationwide including a Target Translucent Yellow vinyl and a Sea Glass Green vinyl available on the artist’s webstore. Pre-order Harry’s House here.

Styles will headline Coachella Festival on April 15 and 22, where he will perform “As It Was” for the first time ever. He will then take Love on Tour back on the road in support of Harry’s House in stadiums and arenas across the world this summer, starting June 11 in Glasgow. On July 29, Maggie Rogers will drop her new album, Surrender, via Capitol Records. Pre-order Surrender HERE. Co-produced by Kid Harpoon and Rogers, Surrender is the follow-up to Heard It in a Past Life, her 2019 album which entered Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart at No. 1 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It landed Rogers a nomination for Best New Artist and went on to amass over one billion combined global streams.

In early 2020 – after multiple sold-out headline tours and major festival performances in support of Heard It in a Past Life – Rogers relocated to the coast of Maine and completely cut herself off from the noise of the outside world. Eventually she created new music.

The 12 tracks were recorded in the garage of Rogers' parents, Electric Lady Studios in New York City and Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios near Bath, England. She gives an account of the journey that led her to Surrender in the album trailer, which she co-directed with Michael Scanlon. Watch HERE. The clip includes a snippet of new music.

Role Model
(a.k.a. Tucker Pillsbury) has a new single, “neverletyougo,” and music video out now. The track comes after his latest single, “if jesus saves, she’s my type” (Click HERE), which racked up over 1.5 million streams in its first week.

Both tracks will also be included on Tucker’s upcoming debut album entitled Rx. The album, which is due out on April 8. Rx is available for pre-save now and “neverletyougo” is also available now at all digital retail providers via Interscope Records.

Role Model says about the track, “There’s a lot of storytelling on this album, but this one was just me getting to talk my sh**.” Click HERE to listen.

The music video for “neverletyougo” is one long, single take and follows Tucker as he flirtatiously performs the song to a mystery love interest as they stroll down a city street. Click HERE to watch.

In addition, Role Model announced his first world tour. Previously announced shows in the U.K. and Europe have been upgraded to larger venues for which tickets initially purchased will be valid for the new venues. Several new U.K. and European dates are announced today as well. Rolling Stones, Keith Richards live album news

A legendary event in the incredible 60-year history of the Rolling Stones is being released in full for the first time on Friday, May 13. Live At The El Mocambo marks the first official appearance of the group's two famous secret concerts at the 300-capacity Toronto club in March 1977.

The album will be available on double CD, 4 LP black vinyl, 4 LP neon vinyl and digitally. It features the Stones' full set from the March 5 show, plus three bonus tracks from the March 4 gig, newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

Only four of the performances found their way onto the Love You Live album that followed in September 1977, which was dominated by tracks captured on the band's 1975 and '76 tours, with the full set having never been heard before.

As the Rolling Stones gear up for their 60th anniversary celebrations, Live At The El Mocambo is available for pre-order now. It is previewed by the release of two powerful tracks from the shows, “It's Only Rock 'N' Roll” and “Rip This Joint,” available on all digital services today. Listen to the tracks and pre-order Live At The El Mocambo here.

As the Stones took to the stage of the “El Mo,” a fixture of the Toronto music scene since the 1940s, punk and disco were both rearing into full view, supposedly ready to see off a band who had already been at the top of their game for 15 years. Over two nights, in an intimate space in one of their favourite cities, they were about to make that prognosis look foolish indeed.

The gigs became reality after the El Mocambo was identified as the potential home for a secret booking. A radio contest was organized in which the prize was tickets to see Canadian rock heroes April Wine, supported by an unknown band called the Cockroaches. Guess who they turned out to be...

On the nights, naturally, April Wine were themselves the opening act, and so it was that the Stones rolled back the years to the exhilarating club incarnation of their early years. Against all the odds, the band produced two nights of exhilarating music that they still talk about in Toronto, and in Rolling Stones legend, to this day.

It was a setlist for all seasons, from Muddy Waters' “Mannish Boy“ and Bo Diddley's “Crackin' Up“ to staples such as “Let's Spend The Night Together“ and “Tumbling Dice,“ and back to the blues with Big Maceo's “Worried Life Blues“ and Willie Dixon's “Little Red Rooster.“ There was the live debut of “Worried About You,“ not heard in studio form until 1981's Tattoo You, and more highlights from “Honky Tonk Women“ to “Hot Stuff.“ Forty-five years on, this is a trip back to the intensity of the Crawdaddy Club in the Stones' earliest days, as revisited by the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world.

Keith Richards has announced the debut digital and immersive audio release of his live album Winos Live in London ‘92. The release is part of an ongoing celebration of the 30th anniversary of Richards’ celebrated second solo release, Main Offender,
available now as a super-deluxe boxset via BMG.

Remixed and reimagined in Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, a new immersive music experience powered by Sony’s 360 spatial sound technology, fans will be able to hear Winos Live in London ‘92 as if they’re inside an intimate venue listening to Richards and the band perform live on stage. Mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer, Dave O’Donnell, the live album is available for streaming in 360 Reality Audio worldwide, exclusively on Amazon Music through the service’s Unlimited tier.

“To take this unreleased live performance from 30 years ago and put it out now, I knew we had to do something exciting,” said Keith Richards. “Live music has a different feel and a different sound - it’s about the experience. Hearing Winos Live in London ‘92 in 360 Reality Audio really makes it feel like you’re back in the room at the Town & Country Club with the sound moving all around you.”

In addition to frontman Keith Richards, Winos Live In London ‘92 features the much-loved X-Pensive Winos drummer and long-time collaborator, Steve Jordan (drummer of The Rolling Stones on their 2021 No Filter Tour of the US), guitarist Waddy Wachtel, bassist Charley Drayton, keyboard player Ivan Neville, singer Sarah Dash, and backing vocalists Bernard Fowler and Babi Floyd.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Main Offender, BMG is celebrating the album with a limited edition super-deluxe boxset, which was released on March 18. The collection includes an 88-page book with never-before-seen photos, reproductions of handwritten lyrics, reprinted essays from the album’s release, and more, plus an archival envelope containing exact replicas of promotional and tour materials from Richard’s archive.

Main Offender is the latest album in the treasure trove of Keith Richards' material to be released via BMG and follows 2021’s Live At The Hollywood Palladium and the 2019 unveiling of his now legendary, first solo album Talk Is Cheap.

Lykke Li unveils new album in May

Lykke Li announces EYEYE (pronounced EYE), an immersive audiovisual album. EYEYE reunites her with longtime collaborator Björn Yttling, their first time working together since 2014’s acclaimed I NEVER LEARN. Recorded in her bedroom in Los Angeles, EYEYE, due May 20, is Lykke’s attempt to compress a lifetime of romantic obsession and female fantasy into a hyper sensory landscape.

The album is accompanied by seven visual loops: together, the music and visuals reveal a grander narrative, a story about the eternally returning cycles of love, addiction, relapse and obsession (the album’s title and running time are palindromic). Listen to “NO HOTEL” here.

After four studio albums, Lykke wanted to use a different palette to make EYEYE. She imposed a dogmatic set of rules to govern each aspect of the production. There were no clicktracks, no headphones, and no digital instruments. The vocals were recorded on a handheld $70 drum mic, often in the moment of composition, giving the lyrics the still-beating sound of fresh heartbreak being whispered into your ear. The album was mixed to tape by Shawn Everett over several months in Los Angeles.

The result is a stripped-down production, with analog synths. “I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD,” Lykke says.

A visual component of EYEYE (PREVIEW) will be released alongside the record. Directed by Theo Lindquist and shot on 16 mm film by cinematographer Edu Grau (A Single Man, Passing), the one-minute videos are meant to be viewed as fragments of a larger story. (The male star is Jeff Wilbusch, from Oslo and Unorthodox.)

“We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media,” Lykke says. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway.” The videos evoke the album’s core themes of fantasy, repetition, and the infinite loops we’re stuck in. They will be released across all platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Tickets for the tour go on sale April 1.

Bryan Ferry love songs EP arrives in May

Bryan Ferry will release new interpretations of four love songs May 6 on BMG.

The Love Letters EP will be the first all new Bryan Ferry recordings to be released since 2018. The Roxy Music founder shared the title track “Love Letters,” which is, in his words “a beautiful haunting ballad with a simple country flavored piano.”

It was originally written by Victor Young and Edward Heyman, recorded by Dick Haymes in 1945 and later popularized by Ketty Lester in 1961. Watch the official video here: https://bryanferry.lnk.to/LoveLettersVideoPR

Ferry says, “I like expanding my repertoire by covering songs from different genres and different times. It can be an interesting challenge, finding the best way to interpret them in my own style – whatever that may be.”

On Love Letters, Ferry also takes on “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself” by Burt Bacharach with lyrics by Hal David, popularized by Dusty Springfield. “I’d always wanted to do one of their well-crafted songs, and this is one of their most famous,” he says.

Ferry puts his stamp on the love song “Fooled Around And Fell In Love” written by Elvin Bishop in the ‘70s, a US No. 3 hit which has been used in countless film soundtracks, as well as “The Very Thought Of You,” which Ferry calls one of his all-time favorite songs. The song was written and recorded by Ray Noble in 1934 and recorded by many others including Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole.

Recording Love Letters began in Nashville while Ferry was on tour in 2019, with work on the EP continuing in London in 2020. In the US the band included Luke Bullen on drums, Chris Spedding on guitar, Neil Jason on bass, Fonzi Thornton on backing vocals and Waddy Watchel on guitar. Back in London, recording continued with Tom Vanstiphout on guitar, Chloe Smith on keyboards, Tugg (Nathan Curran) on drums, Marina Moore on viola and Lucy Wilkins on violin.

Since the release of his first solo album These Foolish Things in 1973, itself a collection of the doo-wop, rock ‘n’ roll and R&B songs so vital to his musical development, Ferry has paid tribute to songbooks from some of the most acclaimed artists of all time – from Stephen Sondheim to Lou Reed, Lennon/McCartney to Al Green. Ferry’s covers of classics like “Jealous Guy” (a UK Number 1 single), “Let’s Stick Together” and “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.”

Bryan Ferry has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, and in 2019 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Roxy Music. Additionally, to celebrate Roxy Music’s 50th anniversary this year, each of their 8 studio albums will be reissued via Virgin/UMe as special anniversary editions with a new half-speed cut, revised artwork and a deluxe gloss laminated finish. The first 2 LPs, Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure will be released on April 1st, 2022, with the remaining albums coming in paired drops throughout the year.

Also out this May is Lyrics, a book of Ferry’s evocative aspirations and romantic longings, introduced by the author, including an insightful essay by James Truman and a previously unseen portrait of Ferry by Antony Price on the book’s cover.

Cruel World Festival news: DEVO to help Ukrainian people and refugees by donating April 2022 song revenue

In response to the ongoing war in Ukraine, DEVO announced that in addition to making their own personal monetary contributions, they will be donating their licensing revenue from their song catalog for the entire month of April 2022.

The money will go directly to Music Saves UA and World Central Kitchen, two organizations on the ground helping to directly support the Ukrainian people and refugees. The group is encouraging others to join them in this effort.

“Vladimir Putin’s rape of a sovereign nation, Ukraine, whose citizens are committed to democratic rule of law should not and cannot stand in the 21st Century,” shared Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale of DEVO. “To help the victims of Putin’s unprovoked war, DEVO will be donating these revenues from the licenses of our song catalog throughout the month of April. We invite our rights holder partners in masters and publishing matters to join us in doing the same. Further we encourage all successful recording artists to do something similar to help make this gesture reach critical mass.”

Music Saves UA is a non-profit fundraising project created to provide immediate humanitarian help, including medical, food, water and hygiene, to those who need it most right now in Ukraine. Learn more at musicsavesua.com

"The whole team at Music Saves UA is incredibly grateful for all the donations and constant help and support from the world of music and culture,” says Music Save UA representative Vlad Yaremchuk. “Our incredible team and dozens of volunteers who joined our cause are working 24/7 to provide supplies and aid via our humanitarian HQ in Kyiv. Every penny that reaches us is put to good use immediately, especially as we work to establish new centres on the Moldovian and Romanian borders for those fleeing. Every act of support is invaluable for us and we deeply appreciate it.”

World Central Kitchen, founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, is a non-profit organization that provides fresh meals in response to crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. In response to the Ukraine invasion, WCK has activated in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungary, where they are providing meals for as many people as possible at border crossings, shelters, and other locations along the journey by working with local restaurants, caterers, and food trucks, and their own field kitchens. DEVO has a longstanding dedication to political and social activism. Known for hits like “Whip It,” Girl U Want," “Beautiful World” and “That’s Good,” as well as for a career that spans across more than four decades and touches everything from music, art, television, movies and more, the group and its members are credited not only for pioneering the music video but also for using music and performance art as commentary on conformity, emotional repression and dehumanization.

Cruel World Festival news: Bauhaus releases first new song in 15 years

Bauhaus -
Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins and David J - has emerged from hibernation with "Drink The New Wine," its first new song since the sessions for 2008's Go Away White.

"Drink The New Wine" was recorded last year during lockdown with the four members sharing audio files. The track employs the Surrealists' ‘Exquisite Corpse’ device whereby each artist adds to the piece without seeing what the others have done.

Bauhaus have used this technique in the past. The title refers to the very first ‘Cadavre exquis’ drawing rendered by AndrĂ© Breton, Marcel Duchamp, Jacques PrĂ©vert and Yves Tanguy which included words which when strung together made up the sentence, 'Le cadavre exquis boiara le vin nouveau' ('The exquisite corpse will drink the new wine.’)

For the recording, the four musicians each had one minute and eight tracks at their disposal plus a shared sixty seconds plus four tracks for a composite at the end. All done without hearing what the others had laid down. The only common link being a prerecorded beat courtesy of Kevin. The final playback came as synchronistic revelation.

Using cutting-edge technology, Pixomondo also brings to life Aerosmith’s infamous logo - the wings - which magically unfold to herald the band’s arrival on stage.

The Aerosmith: DEUCES ARE WILD Residency at Dolby Live is the world's first performance in Dolby Atmos bringing fans face-to-face with America’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in one of the most immersive, state-of-the art audio experiences ever. Dolby Atmos is an immersive audio experience that brings people inside their favorite entertainment. At Dolby Live, Dolby Atmos brings live performances to the next level by taking listeners inside the music to reveal details with unparalleled clarity and depth. Whether it’s hearing the layers of instruments move all around, catching the subtle breath a singer takes between lyrics, or being enveloped in a wave of melodies, nothing compares to hearing music live in Dolby Atmos.

In addition to their Las Vegas residency, the rock legends are also gearing up to release Aerosmith – 1971: The Road Starts Hear (UMe) on CD and digital formats on April 8. This rare recording from 1971 was recently discovered in Aerosmith’s Vindaloo Vaults and was originally only available as a limited-edition cassette and vinyl release for Record Store Day in 2021.

The heavily sought-after RSD release quickly sold out and debuted on the Billboard 200, hitting No. 2 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, No. 12 on the Top Rock Albums chart, No. 13 on the Vinyl Albums chart, and No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart. The Road Starts Hear can now be preordered/presaved, HERE. In addition, the band’s official online store features a new 1971 collection of exclusive merchandise, available HERE.

Aerosmith – 1971: The Road Starts Hear includes previously unseen archived photos, images of the original tape box, and liner notes written by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke with new interviews and comments from the band about this long-forgotten recording. With seven extraordinary tracks, this historic document showcases the early, unbridled talent of the future Hall of Fame members including a nascent version of “Dream On,” which they would later record and release on their 1973 eponymous major label debut. The Road Starts Hear also features early recordings of gems such as “Somebody,” “Movin’ Out,” “Walkin’ The Dog,” and “Mama Kin” all of which would also later be recorded for their landmark debut. Other tracks include “Reefer Head Woman,” which would later be recorded for their 1979 album Night In The Ruts, and “Major Barbara,” a song that would be featured on their 1986 release Classics Live.

Expanded reissue of 'Tell All Your Friends' by Taking Back Sunday arrives in May

I've interviewed the band in the past and saw them in concert several times in the 2000s, so I'm looking forward to hearing this spruced-up version...

Craft Recordings celebrates the 20th anniversary of Taking Back Sunday’s landmark debut album, Tell All Your Friends, with a variety of special reissues and bonus content. Set for release on May 27 and available for pre-order today, all formats offer newly remastered audio, while the vinyl, CD and digital editions feature four previously unreleased demos of “Mutual Head Club,” “Bike Scene,” “The Blue Channel,” and “Great Romances of the 20th Century”—the latter of which is available across digital platforms (stream/pre-save now).

The deluxe, 2-LP vinyl set is housed in a gatefold jacket, offering the remastered original album plus a bonus etched 10-inch disc with the four demos. Various limited edition color pressings will also be available, each offering a unique color for LP1, along with the standard black 10-inch. Fans can pick these up via the band’s webstore and on tour (Blue Smoke and Forest Green vinyl), Craft Recordings (Fog vinyl), Revolver (Orange Crush vinyl), and Urban Outfitters (Sangria vinyl). Rounding out the LP and CD formats are new liner notes from journalist Glenn Gamboa, who covered music for the Long Island-based Newsday during the band’s rise to fame. Additionally, a limited cassette edition will deliver the classic 10-track album, which includes such iconic hits as “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut from the Team)” and “You’re So Last Summer.”

Originally released in 2002, Tell All Your Friends not only propelled Taking Back Sunday to global stardom but also became a defining album in the alt-rock canon. Yet, as the Long Island band readied to record their debut, their expectations were modest—evidenced by the album’s tongue-in-cheek title. After solidifying their line-up in 2001 and recording a five-song demo, Adam Lazzara (vocals), Eddie Reyes (guitar), John Nolan (guitar + vocals), Mark O’Connell (drums), and Shaun Cooper (bass) caught the ears of Victory Records, who signed them promptly that December. Not long after, the band entered New Jersey’s Big Blue Meenie studio with producer Sal Villanueva (Thursday, Murphy’s Law) to record Tell All Your Friends.

“Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut from the Team)” was the first track off Tell All Your Friends to be released online. Two more singles followed: “Great Romances of the 20th Century,” which chronicled the end of a doomed relationship, and “You’re So Last Summer,” which served as an ode to summer flings. Eventually, “Cute Without the ‘E’” was officially released as a single.

In its first week, Tell All Your Friends sold nearly 2,400 copies—no small feat for a relatively unknown act. Over the following months, sales began to increase steadily, thanks to the grassroots efforts of the band, their label, and their fanbase. The album’s title proved to be eerily prophetic, as the emerging power of online fan communities (particularly on Myspace) and peer-to-peer sharing fueled the band’s popularity. Tastemakers took notice as well, including MTV and alternative radio stations across the country, while the band performed on late-night TV shows, including Last Call with Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, during breaks from their busy tour schedule.

Within a year of its release, Tell All Your Friends had surpassed 100,000 units—a number that would double by the end of 2003. In 2005, it was certified Gold by the RIAA. Today, Tell All Your Friends has sold over one million copies. The band revisited the title in 2012 with a 10th-anniversary tour, followed by a live, acoustic version of the album, TAYF10 Acoustic, a year later.

When reflecting on the last 20 years since the album’s release, Nolan says, “During our live shows, there is a part during ‘Cute Without the ‘E’' where we stop and let the crowd sing, ‘Why can’t I feel anything from anyone other than you.’ That has become an unbelievably moving moment for me. The connection between us and the audience is so apparent and so strong. The crowd screams it at us, we stand back from our mics screaming it at them, and the lyrics take on more significance than we ever imagined they could. In a lot of ways, that moment is a distillation of what Tell All Your Friends has meant. It sums up the mind-boggling psychological and emotional connection we made with people 20 years ago that’s still going strong today.”

The current line-up—vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist and vocalist John Nolan, drummer Mark O’Connell, and bassist Shaun Cooper—have been through a lot together. The band, in its various formations, has released seven albums to date (four of which were in the Billboard 200 Top Ten and three of which earned gold records).

In 2018, Taking Back Sunday joined such iconic artists as Billy Joel, Joan Jett, and Lou Reed as inductees of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, while in 2019, they celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band with a tour and a career-spanning compilation, Twenty. In addition to working on a new album this year, the band is readying for a summer tour across the U.S. with Third Eye Blind (see dates below). They also perform at Las Vegas’ highly anticipated When We Were Young festival in October.
