We Are Scientists unveil details on new album 'Huffy'

NYC alt-rock duo We Are Scientists return with news of their first album in three years and a new single "Contact High." Listen here: http://100percent.it/ContactHigh

The new album Huffy is due October 8 via Masterswan Records.

"Love songs can easily be goofy and embarrassing, and so I sometimes have a hard time writing songs that are unambiguously romantic", states singer and guitarist Keith Murray, in a press release, before adding that, "'Contact High' really nails that heady rush of full-throttle infatuation for me, though, because it evokes my trifecta of mood-altering stimuli — dizzying romantic interaction, rousing music, and second-hand contact with psychoactive chemicals (in descending order of personal preference)."

Continuing on the subject of "Contact High," Murray concludes... "it’s just nice to have a song that’s unapologetically sappy, but couched in distorted guitar and metaphors of coincidental intoxication."

Huffy follows 2018's Megaplex and the successful reissue of 2006 debut With Love And Squalor.

As for formats, Huffy will come in multi-paneled vinyl and CD packaging that offers a blank wall where listeners can create their own vision for Huffy. Each one includes sticker sheets with over 20 full color graffiti designed by Keith, Chris, and friends. The vinyl comes in 10 colors (cassettes will be manufactured in five colors, but while each has Huffy on Side A, five different Side Bs give hard plastic-enthusiasts something to crow about).

On Huffy’s mosaic form, Chris says, “Usually people bring a vinyl record home, rip it to their iPods, and throw it straight into the fire. Well, not with Huffy. We’re giving our listeners a reason to keep this one around, and even to consider passing it down to future generations, if they’re super-happy with where they put all the stickers.”

With "Contact High" out today and Huffy on the way, We Are Scientists are holding nothing back (besides the album until its strict October 8th release date) and are sure to deliver a welcome shot in the arm for deprived indie disco dancers everywhere.

Huffy by We Are Scientists is out October 8th via Masterswan Records. Go ahead and pre-order the album here in any which way you prefer (LP/CD/Cassette/Digital), then get ready make your very own one-of-a-kind piece of musical art.
