The Fratellis return with new album in April

Platinum recording rock trio THE FRATELLIS unveiled more details about their upcoming album HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON, due April 9 via Cooking Vinyl Records. Pre-save the album here.

The Scottish band just dropped their newest single and video today titled “Action Replay,"

It follows singles "Six Days In June" and "Strangers In The Street" (feat. P.P. Arnold) and stars actor/dancer Rory J. Saper, best known for his role in Hulu’s teen drama series “Find Me In Paris.” The video is a continuation of the love story from the “Six Days In June” video which featured Saper with his “Find Me In Paris” co-star Hannah Dodd.

Recorded in Los Angeles, California, with producer and long-time collaborator Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, Elle King), the Glasgow band’s sixth album comes after critically acclaimed Top 5 2018 album IN YOUR OWN SWEET TIME.

When the pandemic put a pause on the guys' plans, “Six Days in June,” hit the airwaves mere weeks before the world shut down. “We had a whole year’s worth of work that didn’t happen, but we knew it would come back around,” says Jon Fratelli, the band’s singer and songwriter. “As a band who have a loyal audience we know we’re in a fortunate position.”

Of the direction they took during HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON, Jon says, “These are by far the most colourful songs I’ve ever written...Lots of musicians claim to have that condition where you hear music in colours. I don’t, but I definitely associate certain types of melody with different colours and these ones were multi-coloured.”

The successful debut COSTELLO MUSIC arrived in 2006, but the group split in 2009, only to reform in 2012, and have steadily regained their live following thanks to a new generation of Fratellis fans, not just in Britain but abroad, including China, where they continued selling out shows.

“We’re taking the pop song format and bending it,” adds Jon. “Not as wildly as some, but there’s a definite bend. It’s all about finding those kinks, the spots that can still surprise you. I’ll keep making music for as long as I’m able to bend, if only for want of something more constructive to do with my days.”
