Matt Pond PA news

On Aug. 11, Matt Pond PA will release Still Summer, their twelfth full-length album and the second Pond is releasing under his independent label, 131 Records.

Still Summer is available to pre-order now on LP and CD at the band's online store. matt pond PA has also announced a fall tour (listed below). Watch the official video for "A Spark" from Still Summer at YouTube.
About the video Matt Pond says:

"A spark is a night of flickering possibility on a porch in Portland, Oregon. It's believing in the beauty of a stranger who disappears forever after the keg is kicked — the face in the crowd that for an unsettling moment turns the world askew in delirious bliss. Hope and regret are sitting side by side, sipping whiskey on a dilapidated train trestle in the back of my mind.

The video was intended to convey pure clarity within social chaos. The recognition of another human being, upside-down in a smoke-filled room filled with strangers.

During the shoot, the actors took their roles incredibly seriously. So much so that at a certain point, the film crew and I became a nuisance to their celebrations."

Regarding "Still Summer," Pond told NPR, "My first job was at a snack bar in northern New Hampshire. My first girlfriend was an ice-cream-slinging associate. After work, we'd split for the river on rusty bikes, resisting curfews and looking for something dangerous to do. Gasoline and matches never failed. I remember yellow-line tightrope-walking in traffic for no good reason. Even though our crimes were humble, every second felt like a serious thrill. Each glance and grazing fingertip meant something."

Additionally, matt pond PA shared his Double Freeture, which includes two non-album tracks "Skin and Bones" and "Sugar River" which are available to download now via SoundCloud.
Along with Winter Lives, released in December 2016 by 131 Records, Still Summer will be the last full-length album Pond releases as Matt Pond PA, though it isn’t nearly the end of the line for them. Over time, a new track or take will be added to each — this is the never-ending conclusion of the band’s strange musical tour.

There will be more music. Yet the serious ones say summer only lasts so long. Soon there will be new projects, different titles, unfamiliar names, unforeseen sounds associated with Matt Pond. As if the beginning and the end were one and the same.
