Eric Clapton's 21st studio album, Old Sock, will be released March 12 on Clapton’s Bushbranch
label via Surfdog Records in
the US.
Co-produced by Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon
Climie, it features the new original tunes “Every Little Thing” and “Gotta
Get Over.” The album is a collection of songs ranging
from Leadbelly to J.J. Cale; Peter Tosh to
George Gershwin; Hank Snow to Gary Moore and Taj Mahal. They encompass romantic standards of the 1930s, reggae, soul and rock.
Players assembled for the recordings include longtime
collaborators Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass) and Chris Stainton
(keyboards), along with JJ Cale (backing vocals and guitar, “Angel”), Chaka Khan (backing vocals, “Get On Over”), Steve Winwood (Hammond organ, “Still Got The Blues”), Paul McCartney (bass/vocals, “All of
Me”) and Jim Keltner (drums, “Our Love is Here To Stay”).
