Emblem/Atlantic Records band Matchbox Twenty released its long-awaited new album, “North,” today.
First single “She’s So Mean” is currently top 10 at Hot AC radio, while ascending the top 40 at CHR/Top 40. The companion video has received extensive rotation at VH1 while drawing over a million views at the band’s official YouTube channel.
"North," Matchbox Twenty’s fourth full-length studio recording and first all-new album in a decade, sees the band driving their pop-rock sound further forward. Members Thomas, Cook, Paul Doucette and Brian Yale lived together last summer in a house in Nashville where they collaborated on the new material before once again joining forces with the Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Serletic at his Emblem Studios in Calabasas, California.

A world tour is currently in the works – with Australian dates already announced kicking off Oct. 20 in Melbourne.
Matchbox Twenty’s last release, 2007’s RIAA gold certified “Exile on Mainstream,” compiled hits like “Push,” “Bent,” and “Unwell” and six new tracks, including the smash single/Steve Lillywhite-produced “How Far We’ve Come” (the band’s biggest selling single to date). A global tour in support of it saw the band playing in front of their largest crowds thus far, with sold out shows in North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Upcoming TV appearances include: CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman (Sept. 5), VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz” (Sept. 6); frontman Rob Thomas will be among the guests on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight (Sept. 7), while Thomas and Kyle Cook also appear on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown (Sept. 15).
Thomas is among the mentors on the upcoming third season of NBC’s The Voice. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter joins Cee Lo Green’s team. The Voice premieres Sept. 10.
