Paul McCartney Returns with Long-Awaited New Album in May

The Boys of Dungeon Lane, Paul McCartney's first new solo album in over five years, is due out May 29 via MPL/Capitol Records.

Within these new songs, the legend writes about his childhood in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and early adventures shared with George Harrison and John Lennon long before the world had ever heard of Beatlemania.

In a press release, McCartney says this about "Days We Left Behind," (Available Now):

“This is very much a memory song for me. The album title, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, comes from a lyric in this track. I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else? It’s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John and Forthlin Road which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there. I used to live in a place called Speke which is quite working class. We didn’t have much at all but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much.”

The Boys of Dungeon Lane was first brought into existence five years ago when Paul met producer Andrew Watt for a cup of tea and an exchange of ideas. While playing around on the guitar during the meeting, Paul happened upon a chord that even he -- the world’s most successful living songwriter -- didn’t recognise. Undeterred and driven by his experimental nature, Paul carried on changing one note, then another, until he had a three-chord sequence -- which Watt suggested they should record.

This session yielded the album’s opening track, "As You Lie There." Encouraged by his new producer, Paul would flesh out the new track, playing the majority of instruments – much in the spirit of his 1970 solo debut album, McCartney. So began the journey of what became Paul’s 18th studio album credited solely to Paul McCartney.

Paul’s packed schedule meant that the album was recorded in tight and efficient sessions between legs of global tour dates spanning five years and alternating between Los Angeles and Sussex.

With no record label pressure and no deadline, the pair were able to make the album to their own timeline.

Coachella Festival '26 News: Fatboy Slim to Perform Weekend 1, Officially Releases Mashup of Stones' 'Satisfaction'

English musician/DJ Fatboy Slim - best known for such international dance/pop hits as "The Rockafeller Skank" and "Praise You" during the late '90s - will do a headline performance at Coachella. Slim takes over the Quasar Stage on Sunday, April 12 during Weekend 1.

Built for its extended set times and immersive LED walls, the Quasar Stage is designed to give artists the space to go deeper, free from the constraints of a traditional shorter festival slot—making it the perfect setting for one of the most dynamic DJs in the world. The full performance will stream live on Coachella’s YouTube allowing for viewers around the world to enjoy the set.

Ahead of Coachella, Fatboy Slim will warm up with two special U.S. shows: April 10 at Silo in Dallas and April 11 at The Concourse Project in Austin.

Fatboy Slim’s history with Coachella stretches back to the festival’s earliest days, and he’s remained a fixture throughout its evolution—thanks to his widespread appeal and constantly evolving artistry.

From early appearances, a 2008 headlining Sahara performance, 2014 expanded audiovisual show “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” in Sahara, to the most recent set in the Yuma tent in 2022, a return in 2026 continues a two and a half decades-long connection with the festival and its fans and marks Slim's fifth Coachella appearance.

Having celebrated 40 years in show business in 2025, Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook) performed for his 100th time at UK’s Glastonbury Festival last year.

The most recent release, “Satisfaction Skank,” is more than 20 years in the making—a mashup of his iconic “Rockafeller Skank” mixed with The Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” that he originally created over 25 years ago.

A staple of his live sets and a much-bootleged fan favorite ever since, the track has officially been released with the blessing of the Stones who provided access to the original master tapes, delivered in an armored truck, so Fatboy Slim could create the definitive, official version. The track was fully recreated and rerecorded, transforming it into a no-holds-barred dancefloor weapon while retaining the stadium-scale power of the original.

Speaking on the release, Fatboy Slim says, ‘Over countless years I have always dreamed of an official release for this mash up. It has been a favorite in my DJ sets for over a quarter of a century, I can confirm it is thoroughly road tested and fit for purpose.”

The track already passed 10 million streams, landed on BBC Radio 1’s Hot Recurrent playlist, earned an A-List spot on Radio 1 Dance, and sparked huge fan engagement with 15,000+ UGC creations, 100K Shazams, and over 6,000 radio plays.

Barry Manilow returns with long-awaited new studio album in June

What A Time, Barry Manilow's first album of new material in nearly 15 years, is due out June 5. Produced by the veteran pop superstar and Michael Lloyd, the release features collaborators Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Dave Cobb, Bruce Sussman and Adrienne Anderson.

Prior single “Once Before I Go” is love song executive-produced by Clive Davis and co-written by Dean Pitchford ("Footloose") and the late Peter Allen ("Arthur's Theme"), with a string arrangement by William Ross.

Muse return with new music in June

Muse's 10th studio album, The WOW! Signal, is scheduled for June 26 via Warner Records. Pre-order and pre-save HERE. The announcement saw Muse launch the news from space. In partnership with Sent Into Space, the band sent a specially designed tablet 33km up into the atmosphere to premiere the “Be With You” video, while a second package carried stickers for a limited-edition vinyl release to be claimed by fans.

The WOW! Signal marks MUSE’s first album since 2022’s acclaimed Will Of The People – which premiered at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums. Muse shared lead single, “Be With You,” alongside an official music video starring Ella Balinska (Resident Evil, The Occupant). Listen HERE and watch HERE.

The album takes its name from an interstellar mystery: a powerful 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source. The astronomer who discovered the anomaly famously circled the now-iconic sequence “6EQUJ5” and wrote “WOW!” on the printout beside it — giving the signal its name and cementing its place in scientific and pop-culture lore.

Niall Horan' presents a musical 'Dinner Party' this June

Niall Horan's fourth solo studio album Dinner Party arrives June 5 via Capitol Records. He co-wrote the title track with John Ryan, Jamie Scott, Afterhrs and Julian Bunetta. Listen HERE. Pre-order/pre-save the album HERE.

“Dinner Party is a thank you to the past and a hello to the present, covering the big life events and the small, sometimes messy, in-between moments that actually make them up,” Niall Horan explains. “Much of the album explores that tug of war between falling in love while being terrified of losing them and how that risk is actually the best part. There's love, intimacy, fear, loss, hope, dreams—all wrapped together across it.”

Horan, who recently teamed up with Myles Smith on “Drive Safe,” is featured on the cover of GQ HYPE, which describes Dinner Party as “a collection of sincere sepia-toned songs that Horan says he began to write in 2024 after turning 30, when he was able to slow down, reflect on the past, savor the present, and imagine his future.” Read the feature HERE.

The multi-Platinum-selling singer/songwriter first rose to prominence as part of the internationally acclaimed One Direction and has since firmly established himself as a powerhouse solo artist, selling over 90 million records worldwide.

His 2024 global headline trek hit sold out arenas across multiple continents, culminating in a sold-out North American run and over 1.2 million tickets sold worldwide. Beyond music, Horan has been a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” winning three seasons. Horan also performed for President Joe Biden at the White House.

Another Neil Diamond and Rick Rubin album collaboration due in May

Neil Diamond will unveil Wild At Heart, his third – and final – entry in his acclaimed collaboration album series with producer Rick Rubin, on May 8 via Capitol/UMe.

The songs were initially done at sessions for Diamond’s chart-topping Home Before Dark in '08. Before that, the pair teamed up with Rubin on 2005’s 12 Songs. Home Before Dark was Diamond's first #1 album on the Billboard charts.

“My work with Rick was a labor of love,” Neil says, “and I’m so gratified that these songs will finally be set free into the world to complete our trilogy of work.”

Recently revisiting this material, Diamond spent time fleshing out nine new songs to be released for the first time and closed the set with an alternate take of “Forgotten,” which appeared on Home Before Dark.

Wild At Heart formats include CD, vinyl, and digital platforms; limited edition colored vinyl and 2CD versions will also be available. Preorder and Listen to the title track to Wild At Heart HERE.

In anticipation of Wild At Heart’s release, digital Deluxe Editions of 12 Songs and Home Before Dark are now available and include the debut of bonus tracks previously available on limited physical releases. Listen to 12 Songs HERE and Home Before Dark HERE.

Among those on the Home Before Dark sessions: keyboardist Benmont Tench and guitarist Mike Campbell (both from Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers), along with session guitarist Smokey Hormel (beck) and guitarist Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Will Oldham).

“Working with these guys and having Rick’s ear made it a great deal of fun,” Diamond told Billboard in 2008. “It was magic.”

Diamond, who starred in the 1980 film The Jazz Singer, has seen his life and music turned into the hit Broadway musical A Beautiful Noise. The show debuted in New York City in 2022, and with over 650 performances and was one of the longest-running new musicals on Broadway since the pandemic. Beautiful Noise launched its first tour in 2024 and continues to tour across America with performances set to open in Australia in August, 2026. Listen to the Original Broadway Cast Recording of A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical, HERE.

In addition, Focus Features released Song Sung Blue on December 25, a musical drama starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. Directed by Craig Brewer and based on a true story, the film follows two down-on-their-luck musicians who form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band. The movie has been a huge success, with Hudson receiving Oscar, SAG Actor Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations, and will be released via international streaming in late Spring.

Red Rockers set to release live 2023 reunion album 'It's in Our Blood' in May

I'm always keenly interested in news revolving around alt-rock bands whose heyday was during the Eighties. Read on for info on another promising release from Liberation Hall Records...

'It’s in Our Blood,' a 2023
Red Rockers live set recorded in the band’s hometown of New Orleans, drops May 22 via Liberation Hall. Formats include Blu-ray, translucent red vinyl LP, CD, and digital, with the Blu-ray featuring bonus tracks.

Pre-order at Bandcamp. The first digital single, “Peer Pressure,” is out now.

Best known for the 1983 college radio and MTV hit “China,” the group broke up in 1985, but reunited in 2023. That year, original members John Thomas Griffith (lead vocals, guitar), James Singletary (lead guitar, vocals) and Darren Hill (bass, vocals) reconvened to help promote an expanded edition reissue of '81 debut album 'Condition Red,' which appeared on Liberty Spike Recordings. The trio were then joined by drummer Bryan Barberot to perform the album in its entirety at Tipitina’s. It was that show that provides the audio for 'It’s in Our Blood.'

Both the LP and CD feature 15 tracks, including covers of “I’m So Bored with the USA” by the Clash and “My Generation” by the Who (the latter in a medley with “Condition Red”). The Blu-ray adds a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and two band originals, “China” and “Nothing to Lose.”

Lemon Twigs urge fans to 'Look for Your Mind' in May; tour sooner

The Lemon Twigs' new album, Look For Your Mind!, is scheduled for May 8, with a video for its lead single “I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You.” It contains an undercurrent of paranoia and suspicion. “I do think that now is a time of insanity,” admits co-leader Brian D'Addario. “You really have to hold onto your own mind if you don’t wanna lose it.”

New to this album is the inclusion of the live members Reza Matin (drums) and Danny Ayala (bass), as well as Eva Chambers of Tchotchke. With the D’Addario brothers, Brian and Michael, previously having handled everything in the studio themselves, this shows a newfound sense of freedom.

The manner in which The Lemon Twigs surprise is a constant and testament to their vision and abilities. “Every time we try to write something that's completely straightforward, we can't help adding an element which comes out of left field. We always want to write a song we’ve never heard before,” says Brian.

WATCH VIDEO FOR LEAD SINGLE

Alongside the album announcement, The Lemon Twigs are also announcing 2026 spring and summer tour that includes shows in the US, Canada, and elsewhere.

The Lemon Twigs’ two previous Captured Tracks albums, A Dream Is All We Know (2024) and Everything Harmony (2023), certainly indicated something of a ground zero in their then five album career. “It was the beginning of making records that we would listen to ourselves,” says Michael D’Addario, the younger Twig brother, now aged 26. By the time of A Dream Is All We Know and the future Michael classic “My Golden Years”, The Lemon Twigs’ new era had truly begun.

Death Cab for Cutie to return with new studio album, tour this summer

Anti-Records
Death Cab for Cutie – Benjamin Gibbard, Nicholas Harmer, Jason McGerr, Dave Depper and Zac Rae – announce their 11th studio album. I Built You A Tower, will be released on June 5 via ANTI- Records.

The move marks the band’s return to their independent roots after 20 years on Atlantic Records. Produced and engineered by John Congleton and assembled from three weeks of sessions, I Built You A Tower was recorded at Animal Rites in Los Angeles, as well as the band members’ homes in Seattle, Bellingham, Los Angeles and Portland.

Alongside the album announcement, Death Cab for Cutie share the album’s first single, “Riptides.” "’Riptides’ is about the challenge of dealing with personal struggles as the world around us experiences tragedy and loss on an unfathomable scale,” says Gibbard. “And how when these two elements intertwine themselves in our psyches, it feels utterly paralyzing." Listen to the song and watch its Jason Lester-directed video HERE.

In recent years, Death Cab celebrated several historic milestones, including massive sold-out tours celebrating the 20th anniversaries of seminal releases Transatlanticism and Plans. Those tours were pivotal to the creation of I Built You A Tower, as behind the scenes, Gibbard weathered the greatest pressure of his professional life — fronting both Death Cab and the Postal Service on arena stages for hours a night — while struggling with the collapse of his personal life in the background. The strain felt too much for one person to bear, and the “tower” originated as a way to protect himself. “There’s this need to find a place in ourselves to put loss and grief,” he explains. “A place that can hold it so we can move on with our lives. But there are these moments where the trauma breaks out of that shell we created for it.”

I Built You A Tower is an album of reconciling with past selves in order to locate a new future. “The anniversary tours exorcised any nostalgia in our systems,” Depper observes. “We felt part of this powerful force greater than all of us and went into the studio with a sense of, how can we capture that feeling and put it into something new?” Harmer continues, “The whole experience of this record got us back to the earliest versions of this band: If the musicians in the room like what we’re working on, that’s enough. We reconnected with the confidence that comes with that.” As such, this is not the dreaded “return to form” narrative, but a reclamation of a core ethos that has run through Death Cab’s 30-year history.

The band recently announced a North American summer tour, which is on sale now. These performances come on the heels of a sold-out global tour in marking the 20th anniversary of Transatlanticism plus their acclaimed 10th studio effort, 2022’s Asphalt Meadows.

Kacey Musgraves new album features Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert in May

Eight-time Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves' sixth studio album, Middle of Nowhere, is scheduled for May 1 via Lost Highway. The title was inspired by a sign in her hometown of Golden (population: 300) that reads "Golden, TX: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere."

The follow-up to 2024's country chart topping Deeper Well is said to draw from a love of Texas dancehall classics, humorous takes on the human condition, and the space where traditional country borders many sounds including Norteño and even Zydeco. Once again, Musgraves co-produced the album with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. Special guests include Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov.

According to People Magazine, “The bulk of this record was made during the longest single period of my life, and I found that for the first time, it actually felt incredible being alone and existing in a space not defined by anyone else,” Musgraves said in a statement. “I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional. We don’t linger in these transitional, empty spaces long enough and rush to define where or whatever is next.”

She continued: “I became so at ease with being in the ‘middle of nowhere’ in many senses and sitting in the un-comfort of the undefined. I had a lot of time for creative ambling and leaning into myself in different ways; horses, humor, writing with my early collaborators again, and living out my very simple, inspired life between Texas, Tennessee, and Mexico.”

Pre-orders are live now at losthighwayrecords.com; a limited-edition, squash blossom turquoise LP variant is exclusively available through Magnolia Record Club: magnoliarecord.store. Other formats are black vinyl, CD and digital.

A video has been released for first single "Dry Spell." View it here: https://youtu.be/NlohfwTunwU

We Are Scientists news: fresh tour dates with Psychedelic Furs; Keith Carne solo album coming

We Are Scientists, the NYC-based alt-rock band whose Qualifying Miles album was among my top 10 albums of 2025, will finally head out west to support Psychedelic Furs later this spring.

The U.S. tour runs from mid-May 12 to mid-June. See below for full routing.

Meanwhile, drummer Keith Carne's debut solo album Magenta Light is due April 20. His debut single
"Look for the Moon" is out now.

“I travel a lot in my touring work with other bands, and I miss her profoundly when I’m gone,” Carne says, about the tune written for his wife. “I think about her very often on airport runways, especially flights when I’m the one leaving. This is why there are references to 37,000 feet, oblivion above the clouds, falling and, maybe most importantly, Delta airline wine… Hayley and I always talk about our moon-connection when I’m gone - about how we can connect with one another simply by looking at the moon when we’re apart. Just the act of looking for it brings me great comfort because it brings her to mind.”

The album marks both a departure and an arrival for Carne. While his position for the last 13 years as drummer and backing vocalist for We Are Scientists continues onward, Carne steps toward centerstage as songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.

An ardent supporter of responsible mind-enhancing drugs, the origin of the album title Magenta Light comes from a similar experience. “I named the album for a psychedelic vision my wife had - she saw sparkling, magenta light pouring from my face,” Carne explains. “I began recording the ideas in my head the very next day with this vision in mind. “It’s inspired in equal parts by Pharoah Sanders’s explosive spiritual jazz and Fred Again’s catchy dance anthems. Its implications are both interpersonal and extraterrestrial.”

Magenta Light was written, recorded, produced, and performed by Keith Carne, with additional contributions from Brian Bond (Gem County), Justin “Bestamo” Gaynor (Gem County / Keith and Bestamo), Zeno Pittarelli, and Drew Citron (Beverly). Bond handled mixing, Pittarelli mastered the album, and the cover artwork was created by Hayley Youngs, with design by Benedict Kupstas (Field Guides).

Bruno Mars update: new album out, 5th tour date added

Upon first listen, I think this in another soulful, thoroughly enjoyable winner. I saw someone on social media complain that the album was short, clocking in at just over 31 minutes. But I'd say, it's short and sweet

I was also impressed that current Riverside resident and former Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings member/producer/arranger Gabe Roth contributed to the recording and engineering on a handful of the Mars tracks (other ex-Dap Kings Homer Steinweiss, Leon Michels and Dave Guy also appear on a song).

Read more about the Mars album in this press release...

Nearly a decade after his last solo project, Bruno Mars officially returned last week with his long-awaited fourth solo album, The Romantic, available everywhere via Atlantic Records. The project features songs including “I Just Might,” which became his inaugural No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Risk It All,” accompanied by an official music video directed by Bruno and Daniel Ramos, now on YouTube HERE.

The release arrived alongside numerous activations around the world, including mobile flower trucks distributing roses, “love lock” walls stationed across the globe, and The Romantic Flower Shop pop-up in Los Angeles at Tommy's Gift Shop on Pico Blvd.

The Romantic comes in the wake of Bruno’s continued chart success, with previous singles including the GRAMMY® award-winning “Die With A Smile” with Lady Gaga, which became the fastest song in Spotify history to reach 1 billion streams and topped the Billboard Global 200 Chart for a record-tying 18 weeks, as well as the pervasive “APT.” with ROSÉ—the latter of which was recently named IFPI’s biggest‑selling global single of 2025, crowned the most globally streamed song of 2025 by Apple Music, and scored 19 weeks at number one on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart and 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Global 200 Chart. Beyond its massive global chart achievements, “APT.” also won “Song of the Year” at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, and earned three nominations at this year’s 68th Annual GRAMMY® Awards for “Song of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” and “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”

In January 2025, Mars became the first artist in Spotify history to surpass 150 million monthly listeners, ranking him among the platform’s top global artists. In October 2022, he became the first artist in RIAA history to earn six Diamond-certified singles. As of 2026, he has reached at least seven RIAA Diamond certifications for songs including "Just the Way You Are,” which is now the highest-certified song in history at 21x RIAA Platinum, "Uptown Funk" (with Mark Ronson), "Grenade," "That’s What I Like," "When I Was Your Man,” “Locked Out of Heaven," and the “The Lazy Song.” His debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, is the longest-running studio album by a solo male artist on the Billboard 200, with over 345 weeks on the chart. He has secured ten Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles and has spent a total of 30 weeks atop the Global 200 with his 2024–2025 hits.

The tour will now include an extraordinary six-night run at Wembley Stadium in London, five nights at Rogers Stadium in Toronto and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, four nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, and multi-night plays across other markets.

The newly added Los Angeles date will take place Wednesday, September 30 at SoFi Stadium, while Vancouver’s final show is set for Wednesday, October 21 at BC Place. Mars will then bring the tour to Mexico City for four nights at Estadio GNP Seguros on December 3, 4, 7, and 8, closing out the massive 2026 outing.
