Wisconsin alt-rock band Newski enlists Guster, Nada Surf, Verve Pipe members for upcoming album

Wisconsin lo-fi alternative rock band Newski has shared "Airplane" featuring Guster's Ryan Miller. The track is from the band's full-length album Friend Rock out April 7 via Nomad Union (pre-order). The album follows Newski's album and book It's Hard to be a Person: defeating anxiety, surviving the world, and having more fun.

On the track NEWSKI says:

Looking back to a magical time when MTV still played music videos…when prank calling truckers on CB radios was top-shelf entertainment, and when MGD was still considered a good beer, Airplane (feat Ryan Miller of Guster) encapsulates those feelies. It’s a slow-cruiser perfect for car listening while traveling speeds between 25-61 MPH, on any day that ends in why.

A revival of 90’s alternative, the trio enlists a friend/musical influence on every track for their forthcoming album, notably veterans like Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), Brian Vander Ark (the Verve Pipe) and Ryan Miller (Guster).

Last month NEWSKI released "Chemicals" the first single be released from Friend Rock. The track and its accompanying video is on all streaming platforms for any playlist shares.

The VHS style video directed by Ben Spatol shows the band time-travels us into the past, punching Hitler, partying at Woodstock, join the band Queen, and getting tracked by the CIA in the JFK debacle.

NEWSKI says, "We are nothing without our friends."

“Most of my friends I started with in music have since retired, which makes me feel like the world has turned and left me here. Collaborating with fellow “musician lifers” on this album made me feel less lonely and insane,” explains NEWSKI. “It’s been neat to become pals with musical heroes from childhood.”

Some of the connections on Friend Rock were made during NEWSKI's podcast "Dirt from the Road," where guest musicians would have a laugh about their worst moments on the road.

Newski is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Brett Newski, drummer Steve Vorasson and bassist Sean Anderson.
