It will be completely in-person this year and begins on June 24 with “Swing This” - An Evening with Debby Boone. Performances scheduled for July 1 and July 5 will be announced later in the spring due to contractual provisions with artists.
The long-anticipated community musical returns with Disney’s Little Mermaid presented by producer/director Wayne Scott. Performances will be July 28 through July 31 with a public dress rehearsal on July 26.
The season will also include a musical tribute to the legacy of long-time Bowl conductor Maestro Frank Paul Fetta who passed away last year. The season will conclude on August 19 with a performance by the Redlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ransom Wilson featuring violinist Aubree Oliverson along with the return of the fireworks finale.
All performances begin at 8 p.m. and occur every Tuesday and Friday throughout the summer. No admission charged. No reservations needed. Seating is first-come, first-served. Free-will offering will be collected at intermission.

In 1977, Debby Boone (pictured above) earned instant fame when “You Light Up My Life” became one of the biggest songs in history, charting #1 on Billboard for ten straight weeks and selling over four million albums. She received a Grammy for Best New Artist and has since received an additional seven Grammy nominations, winning two more. She has recorded 13 albums. Her most recent album is a tribute to Las Vegas in the 60’s called Swing This. She is currently performing music live across the country. The evening’s performance will feature a full orchestra conducted by Nolan Livesay.

Maestro Roger Kalia is the Young Artists Concerto Competition Music Director and will serve as the evening’s conductor. A respected collaborator with orchestras and artists alike, and a compelling presence both on and off the podium, Kalia is known for his eloquent and passionate interpretations and for bringing a “fresh view to classical music” (The Republic). Music Director of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony NH (Symphony New Hampshire), and Orchestra Santa Monica, he is also the Co-Founder and Music Director of the celebrated Lake George Music Festival in upstate New York.

They also tour four different shows nationally with Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles with whom their 2017 production of “Tale as Old as Time” from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast for the mitú network, went viral with over 16 million views! Avid proponents of music education, the group teaches mariachi for all ages at their own Academy for Performing Arts.

And so, begins another evening with Pete Jacobs and his 16-piece big-band. Interspersing the hits of the Thirties and Forties, along with late-breaking news-stories from the war-years, as well as several original songs, and even some 1940-style radio commercials, listening to this band is like taking a time-machine back to a World War II U.S.O. show. And with their three female vocalists, a driving rhythm section, and eight-piece horn section, the “classic-swing” sound is both full and authentic! And when you add in their “armed-forces style” khaki-colored uniforms, it’s all there.

Frisson at the Pops
Experience the excitement and expertise of Frisson! The New York City based group showcases the best and brightest of classical music’s rising stars.
Frisson features a multitude of rarely performed masterworks, and the group expands and contracts into a variety of ensembles, including quintets, sextets, nonets, and even a small chamber orchestra. The ensemble performs in over 25 cities annually including appearances in such diverse venues as the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City, for the Da Camera Society in Los Angeles and at the Bermuda Festival.
For their performance they will be playing from their Pops program consisting of selections from West Side Story, Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” and Piazzolla’s “Oblivion.”

SKERRYVORE
The Redlands Bowl is excited to welcome back SKERRYVORE. Picking up Scottish traditional music’s ‘Live Act of the Year’ twice – in 2011 and again in 2016 – the band’s wide range of influences and talent produce a musically expansive, high energy set that excites and captivates audiences. Their live album, recorded at Scottish venues in late 2019, and released in summer 2020, highlights that there’s still much more to come for Skerryvore’s. Skerryvore were delighted to return to touring in USA in September 2021, followed by European and English Tours in November 2021 and their Scottish Winter Tour in December 2021.

The Bowl’s dramatic season finale with fireworks will feature the Barber Violin Concerto with guest artist Aubree Oliverson and a tribute to John Williams with pieces to be performed including his Olympic Fanfare and Theme, The Empire Strikes Back Medley, and music from Close Encounters.
Praised for her evocative lyricism and joyful, genuine approach, violinist Aubree Oliverson is proving to be one of America's most compelling young artists, distinguishing herself with clear, honest, and colorful interpretations. Her performances have been described by the Miami New Times as “powerful… brimming with confidence and joy” and “masterful” by the San Diego Story.
Ransom Wilson’s long and varied career has seen him as an international flute virtuoso and recording artist, celebrated chamber musician, and a busy conductor. In addition to his post as Music Director & Conductor of the Redlands Symphony, he is Artistic Director of New York’s Le Train Bleu ensemble and Music Director of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. Maestro Wilson was also the Music Director of the Solisti New York Orchestra, the OK Mozart International Festival, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra.
Redlands Bowl Performing Arts is the presenter of the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival which holds the distinction of being the longest continuously running music festival in the United States at which no admission is charged. The Redlands Bowl is attended by over 100,000 members of the community each year.
