On July 10, The City National Grove of Anaheim in Orange County, Calif. debuted its Drive-In OC concert series with three sold out performances by local native Andrew McMahon and his four-piece band. Music fans either stayed inside or directly adjacent to their cars and the events utilized COVID-19 protocols.

The Saturday night concert was livestreamed via On Location Live

I watched the livestream and was impressed by the online production's sharp picture, sound and camera work. During a lively set that ran more than 90 minutes, McMahon performed the entirety of “Everything in Transit,” his 2005 debut album with Jack’s Mannequin, plus favorites from Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness ("Ohio," "Love and Great Buildings," "Cecilia and the Satellite") and Something Corporate ("I Woke Up in a Car," "Me and the Moon").

McMahon also debuted his version of "Something Wild," the 2016 collaboration with Lindsey Stirling for the animated film "Pete's Dragon," and introduced the new song "Get on My Wave."

For those that missed the show, it is now available to view on demand for $10 at: https://onlocationlive.com/product/andrew-mcmahon-live-at-drive-in-oc

A portion of the proceeds for all streaming tickets sold (including last Saturday night) will go to McMahon’s Dear Jack Foundation, which works with adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer.

Upcoming Drive-In OC shows:

Common Kings, Tonight-July 18, $200 per car.
Fitz & the Tantrums, Sept. 5-6, $160 per car.

The Grove has a Zoom performance of Piff the Magic Dragon: Live from Las Vegas, July 24 and 31, $35.75, www.passportshows.com.
