Capitol Records has released Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent Extended Edition featuring three new songs. Available here, the release comes on the heels of news that his breakthrough hit “Someone You Loved” has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the prestigious Song of the Year category.
After topping the U.K. Official Singles chart for a nearly unprecedented seven weeks, the single has held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, marking the first No. 1 single from a debut U.K. artist on the tally since February 2016. In addition, “Someone You Loved” has topped the U.S. Top 40 Radio chart for four consecutive weeks, spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Hot AC Radio chart and topped the U.S. Shazam chart for eleven weeks running, making it the longest running consecutive #1 on the US chart this year. A global smash, “Someone You Loved” is certified Platinum or greater in a total of 20 countries, including the U.S., where it has now earned over three million equivalent song units. Worldwide streams of the track are approaching two billion.
Capaldi’s debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, is the fastest selling U.K. debut of 2019 with 90,000 albums sold in the first week. To date, it has sold over 1.5 million adjusted albums worldwide and combined global streams now exceed 3 billion. “Before You Go,” one of three new songs included on the extended edition, premiered on Beats 1 New Music Daily Live with Zane Lowe. It amassed two million Spotify streams in first 24 hours of release and was added to the Today’s Top Hits playlist as well as BBC Radio 1’s A-list. See below for the extended edition tracklisting.
Following his sold out fall headline tour of North America, Capaldi will kick off his headline tour of the U.K. and Ireland in March 2020. Announced before the release of Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, the run sold out in mere seconds, making him the first artist in history to sell out arenas prior to the release of a debut album. Capaldi will join as a special guest on Niall Horan’s 2020 Nice To Meet Ya world tour. The North American run, which also features fellow label mate FLETCHER, will kick off on April 20, 2020 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN and include shows at Barclays Center in New York (April 29) and The Forum in Los Angeles (May 18). Full itinerary and ticket information can be found here.
Capaldi recently performed on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The 23-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter made his U.S. late night television debut on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in June. The following week, he performed “Someone You Loved” on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and, in a first for the show, Corden invited Capaldi back to perform for a second night in a row.
