Home video news: Paul Rodgers, OneRepublic

I had the opportunity to interview Paul during the original Bad Company reunion in the late '90s and have reviewed him in concert a few times since then. I look forward to seeing this release...

In London, England, on May 28, 2017, Paul Rodgers performed an evening celebrating the music of Free. This sold out concert at the Royal Albert Hall was captured for a live CD/DVD set to be released by Quarto Valley Records this spring.

The 16-song collection includes “All Right Now,” “Wishing Well,” “Fire and Water,” and some tracks never performed live by the original band, such as “Love You So” and “Catch a Train.”

“I have been making music for a long, long, long time, so to get super charged and re-inspired to perform was a revelation”, says Rodgers. “I loved the Free Spirit Tour and the guys who helped create the magic, Pete Bullick, Rich Newman, Ian Rowley and Gerard 'G' Louis. I hope you feel it too, just lose yourself in the music and let it fuel your soul.”

Paul Rodgers – Free Spirit – Celebrating the Music of Free, will also be available on Blu-ray, vinyl, and digital platforms. In addition, Rodgers will be bringing the Free Spirit Tour to the US this spring, as well as performing with his solo band and a few select dates with Bad Company in the upcoming months.

Eagle Vision will release of the concert film “OneRepublic: Live In South Africa” on Feb. 23, on blu-ray and digital download. Physical pre-orders are available here, and you can watch the trailer here.

It was filmed in Johannesburg at The Ticketpro Dome (then known as The Coca-Cola Dome), in the closing stages of their Native World Tour. Having been on the road at that point for over two years, the band played to 20,000 fervent fans. The set included “Counting Stars,” “Apologize," “All The Right Moves,” "If I Lose Myself" and more.

Native, the band’s third album, featured “Counting Stars” - a #1 hit record in 54 countries - that debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in 2013 and sold over 5 million units worldwide. The Native Tour saw the band do shows in 154 cities in 26 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, as well as North and South America.

A documentary on the new release has the band in exclusive interviews and never-before-seen archive video, which is exclusive to the Blu-ray. A further bonus is the band’s performance of “Wherever I Go” live from Sydney Harbour.
