Joywave news

I reviewed the band when the played a packed show in Santa Ana, Calif. (see elsewhere on this blog). I hope to see them again at Coachella. Read below for the latest.

This Friday sees Joywave embarking on a six week tour of the US as the direct support for Metric. The dates kick off in Chicago and take the Rochester, NY-based band across the US and back.

The tour includes a show at the Hollywood Palladium on February 26 and The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on March 11. Following the tour, Joywave have confirmed an appearance at this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival - the band will be playing at the Indio, CA festival on April 17 and April 24.

In anticipation of the forthcoming string of live-dates Joywave are sharing a live performance video of their recently released single "Destruction" off their 2015 debut album How Do you Feel Now?

Shot at a show at New York City's Bowery Ballroom in October of 2015 the video showcases the band's penchant for putting on a high-energy set that gets each and every audience member dancing along with them. Coachella premiered the video to show what festival goers will expect in April.

Just a week after its release, the "Destruction" single is sitting at #30 on the Alternative chart and rising. This is their fourth single that has charted in the top 30. The official video for Destruction was directed by Philip Andelman (Taylor Swift, Jay Z, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, Beyonce)

"Destruction" isn't the only Joywave track making its mark at the moment. The band's 2015 single "Tongues" is all over the television airwaves via a Google Nexus TV commercial. The ad has been watched upwards of 25 million times and the track is now charting on Shazam.

2015 saw Joywave release their debut LP How Do you Feel Now? (Cultco Music/ Hollywood Records) and the band's collective lives have been a whirlwind of activity ever since. As their singles "Somebody New" and "Now" rose up the alternative radio charts their life on the road mirrored that ascension.

The band toured the US & Europe with the likes of Bleachers, The Kooks &, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, played Summerstage in New York City's Central Park, as well as to sold-out rooms on their first headline tour WORLD TOUR USA 2015. They drew massive crowds with festival appearances at Voodoo Music & Arts Experience & Hangout, Reading, Leeds and Lollapalooza Berlin.

Joywave is vocalist Daniel Armbruster, guitarist Joseph Morinelli, bassist Sean Donnelly, keyboardist Benjamin Bailey, and drummer Paul Brenner.
