In stores now: Whitney Houston Live, Tears for Fears, The New Basement Tapes

Legacy Recordings just released Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances. The multiple Grammy-award winning singer’s first-ever live album is available as a CD/DVD, which includes videos of Houston’s most performances. Both the audio and visual content have undergone state-of-the-art restoration and remastering. See track listing below.

The producer of the CD and the DVD is five-time Grammy Award winner Clive Davis.

Mr. Davis states, “Whitney’s Live CD/DVD will stun everyone. It definitely shows why she was totally unique, absolutely in the first rank of all time. For me, it’s been very emotional. The set vividly confirms that there really was no one like her. It also makes the tragedy of losing her so young so very painful. Watching the DVD is a mesmerizing experience. Her amazing vocals and the songs that have stood the test of time combine to truly hypnotize over and over.”

On behalf of The Whitney Houston Estate, Patricia Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law and President of the estate states, “Whitney truly had a matchless voice that not only made you feel good but made you feel alive. The Whitney Houston Estate has worked closely with Clive and Sony Legacy to make this the best album possible to honor Whitney's memory. It certainly was a bittersweet endeavor for all but one we hope appeals to her legions of fans worldwide."

The New Basement Tapes - Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) - have released their new album, Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes via Electromagnetic Recordings/Harvest Records.

The T Bone Burnett-produced album was founded on a treasure trove of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of his original Basement Tapes.

With Dylan having entrusted the lyrics to Burnett, the artists and T Bone convened in March 2014 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood to write and create music together for the long lost lyrics, swapping instrumental and vocal roles throughout the marathon sessions. The result was dozens of new songs and recordings, 20 of which are included on Lost On the River.

Additionally, the original documentary Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued will premiere on Showtime on Nov. 21 at 9 P.M. ET/PT. It is a look inside the creative process of recording an album and the discovery of long-lost Dylan lyrics.

A trailer for the film can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsx-QMY_FKY and a performance of "Kansas City" by The New Basement Tapes can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MwOarNpBcw.

The band appears on Ellen on Nov. 14 and Jimmy Kimmel Live on Nov. 19.

A deluxe version of Tears for Fears’ biggest-selling album, Songs from the Big Chair (Universal Music Enterprises) is out now. The album is available in various formats (see below).

Tears for Fears’ 10-million-selling second album marked a transition in the band’s sound and catapulted them into international prominence.

As a group, Tears for Fears led the “Second British Invasion” of pop music in the mid-eighties in both the U.S. and Europe with songs from the album that dominated the radio airwaves.

In the U.S., “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” led the Songs from the Big Chair single releases, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985. “Shout” was the band’s second single and stayed at No. 1 for three weeks. The album inevitably went straight to No. 1, selling 5-million copies in the U.S. alone.

Songs from the Big Chair peaked at No. 2 on the U.K. album charts and remained in the Top 10 for over six months. The album went on to yield the hit singles “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (which spent 14 weeks in the U.K. Top 5 and peaked at No. 2) and “Shout,” which reached No. 4 and remained on the chart for 16 weeks. Both became global smash hits.

Now available in five rebooted, extended formats, this is the most comprehensive reissue of Songs from the Big Chair. The six-disc, deluxe edition box set features a multitude of remixes and B-sides, plus a disc of nine previously unreleased tracks and a 5.1 surround sound version of the album mixed by renowned musician and audio engineer Wilson.

Album Formats:

o 6-Disc Super Deluxe Edition Box Set: features 4-CDs & 2-DVDs with a
30-page replica tour program and a 32-page booklet
o 2-CD Deluxe Edition
o 1-CD Remaster
o 1-LP: 180-gram vinyl
o Pure Audio Blu-ray™ Edition

Tears for Fears are currently in the studio working on their first album in nearly a decade, with a release tentatively slated for 2015. The band plays KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas at the LA Forum on Dec. 14. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon, $80-$178.
