David J's West Coast concert dates

Former Bauhaus and Love & Rockets musician David J is currently on a short run of dates to promote his just-released album An Eclipse of Ships.

It is available via digital download, CD and vinyl through davidjofficial.com. Fans purchasing the album will receive a bonus track, the David J cover of Britney Spears’ "Toxic."

Essentially a journal of the heart and a paean to women, the new work sees a return in style to earlier mainly acoustic records such as Songs From Another Season and Crocodile Tears and The Velvet Cosh and features stand-up bass, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, acoustic piano, violin, viola, oboe, mandolin, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, slide guitar and percussion.

The "Toxic" video features Sasha Grey, actress and model whose controversial career makes the perfect backdrop for this Toxic film concept. Adding to the dangerous liaison mood of the video, David J enlists the "sinfully soulful sound" of Adrian H & The Wounds, an alternative rock group from Portland.

Elaborating as to why he created the version of the Spears tune, David J recounts, "I heard the original...being played in a supermarket and it made a connection with a situation that I was involved in at the time. I decided then and there to cover it. The song plays out as a kind of shadow side to my album, which is for the most part a positive celebration of women."

Remaining tour dates:

April 25 Artiface, Las Vegas (DJ set)
April 26 Backstage Bar & Billiards, Las Vegas
April 27 Los Globos, Los Angeles
April 28 Soda Bar, San Diego
