Aaron Lewis will help wrap up the final weekend of the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival with a performance Saturday in Indio, Calif.
His debut full-length solo album, The Road (Blaster/Warner Nashville Records), co-produced by Lewis and James Stroud, came out last November and entered the Top 10 on the Billboard's Country Albums chart.
It followed the Town Line EP, which bowed at #1 in 2011, the top 40 country hit "Endless Summer" and the mainstream rock charter "Country Boy" alongside Charlie Daniels and George Jones.
The Grammy award-nominated, multi-platinum singer/songwriter/guitarist of rock band Staind mines traditional country on the album, as several are road stories ("75," "State Lines," the title track) ranging from heartwarming to pensive. The Road is filled with classic grit and invigorating energy.
Nine of the songs were penned by Lewis, with one (“Granddaddy’s Gun”) written by Rhett Atkins, Bobby Pinson and Dallas Davidson. "Forever" addresses the toll time apart can take on a relationship.
[That] is a "pretty honest song about how lonely it can get out on the road,” explained Lewis. “But realizing at the end of it, it really was all just doubt and when you walk through the door and see your wife and kids, it all goes away.”
A live acoustic version of "Forever" is available as part of an iTunes-exclusive deluxe version of the album along with four other live acoustic tracks.
