fun. Tour News

fun. has partnered with non-profit group Reverb and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for the upcoming Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour. The tour will hit colleges across the country this fall (see below).

The Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour (CCT) is both a concert and social cause campaign, aimed at educating and mobilizing students to take positive action. This CCT’s social focus will be for LGBTQ equality. (LGBTQ is a widely used acronym that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer.)

In addition, the tour itself will be as Earth-friendly as possible.

fun. fans attending the Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour will have the opportunity to connect with their campus LGBTQ organizations, learn how to get involved in the fight to get corporate money out of politics and sample Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

The upcoming trek marks the second year in a row that fun. has participated in the CCT.

“Last year we had an amazing experience,” said Nate Ruess, lead singer of fun. “Colleges are fertile ground for activism and change. It’s exactly where we need to be as we launch our support for LGBTQ equality.”

In addition, fun. will kick off the run with a show on Oct. 31 at Portland, Maine’s State Theatre benefiting Mainers United for Marriage, a broad coalition of groups and people working to win the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Maine. The show will help raise awareness for the Nov. 6 citizens’ initiative vote to allow same-sex couples to receive a marriage license in the state of Maine. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale Sept. 5, via fun.artistarena.com.

The band's album “Some Nights” recently reached RIAA gold certification status for sales in excess of 500,000. The album sales were fueled by the success of “We Are Young (Feat. Janelle Monáe),” which spent six weeks atop Billboard’s “Hot 100,” earning 5x RIAA platinum for sales in excess of 5 million, and “Some Nights,” the title track from the album, which followed the #1 success of “We Are Young” by topping the airplay charts at Alternative radio outlets nationwide.

fun. will do an exclusive acoustic session streaming live on grammy.com beginning Sept. 5. They are up for awards in two prestigious categories: “Best New Artist” and “Best Pop Video” at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live on MTV this Thursday.

The NYC-based band has just wrapped a sold out North American headline tour and is now set to embark on their first-ever full-scale European trek. The September/October schedule features headline dates and festival appearances across the Continent, including shows in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, Belgium, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.

Upon their return, fun. has slated a long sold out show at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on Nov. 15. For full details and ticket availability for all shows, see ournameisfun.com/tour.
