Michael C. Hall collaborates with Blondie, Wallflowers musicians on new project Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum

Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum (Michael C. Hall, Peter Yanowitz & Matt Katz-Bohen) have released a special vinyl edition of their debut album, THANKS FOR COMING via Morpho Music.

PRESS HERE to purchase and HERE to stream/download the album.

“We hope people will sort of take a ride and go to all these different imaginative places; have an experience that feels like it’s facilitated only by listening to the record,” says Michael C. Hall. “Like it takes you to a place that you discover for having listened to it—a place you didn’t quite know about until you took the ride.”

Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum is comprised of vocalist, lyricist, musician and actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), drummer Peter Yanowitz (The Wallflowers, Morningwood) and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen (Blondie).

The trio eschews traditional rock instrumentation in favor of stripped-down synthesizer-and-drum attack, and a wealth of disparate influences flow into Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum’s songs - the glam, experimental, ambient music of David Bowie, Giorgio Moroder’s ‘70s disco productions for Donna Summer, ‘80s new wave dance music, contemporary electronic dance acts like Justice.

A theatrical sensibility is part of the trio’s DNA, especially in live shows, having met several years ago on Broadway during the production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. They played the final show at Mercury Lounge following the release of their self-titled EP last spring before the city shut down, which was cited in The New York Times.

The band released their self-titled EP in spring 2020 (PRESS HERE to listen) along with videos for “Ketamine,” “Come Talk To Me,” “Love American Style” and “Vicious.”

Hall is a musical talent and a longstanding Broadway performer, having played leading roles in Chicago, Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and was selected by David Bowie to star in his musical, Lazarus. He has also earned many accolades for his acting, including an Emmy nomination for his work on the HBO drama Six Feet Under and a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for the acclaimed Showtime series Dexter. Hall assumed the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway on October 16, 2014 and performed the role until January 18, 2015.

Yanowitz began his career playing drums in The Wallflowers before going on to co-found indie stalwarts Morningwood and work with artists as varied as Natalie Merchant, Yoko Ono, Andrew W.K., Allen Ginsberg, and Billy Bragg & Wilco, who enlisted him to perform on their seminal ‘Mermaid Avenue’ collaboration.

Matt Katz-Bohen spent the last decade touring and recording with Blondie, in addition to working with Boy George and Cyndi Lauper.

Out today: 'The Album' by Chase Rice

Chase Rice's The Album is out now. He recently appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and performed the Top 20-and-climbing single “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” The Album is available on all digital and streaming platforms HERE.

The journey of this project began in early 2020, when Rice surprised fans with the release of his seven-song The Album Part I, featuring Platinum-certified Top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.” The Album Part II followed shortly thereafter, with Rice appearing on “Good Morning America” to announce the addition of four new songs to the collection as part of his desire to give fans new music more frequently than traditional album cycles allow.

“I grew up like so many people did, listening to new CDs from start to finish in my truck for weeks at a time,” reflects Rice. “That’s not the way music is consumed anymore with playlisting and streaming, so I wanted to give all of these songs their own moment. It’s been really cool to see people connect with songs off Part I and Part II that they might not have discovered if we had released all 15 songs at once.”

Now, with four more songs to round out the project – including his quickly climbing single with longtime friends Florida Georgia Line – Rice considers his all-encompassing The Album to be his most defining release to date, as evidenced by its emphatic title.

“I chose to call this The Album because it’s the first thing I would encourage someone to listen to if they want to know who I am as an artist,” shares Rice. “My career has been such a rollercoaster journey, but it’s all led to this moment and these songs. So much of what I’ve learned, so much of what I’ve fought through – it’s all reflected in this music.”

Brand new on the full version of The Album is “The Nights,” which sees Rice acknowledge the difficulty of moving on, toggling between singing and speaking to emphasize his most vulnerable moments; “Bedroom,” a sultry midtempo ode to romance; and “If I Didn’t Have You,” a reflective track that recognizes the way our loved ones push us to be the best versions of ourselves.

“This has been such an interesting time, releasing new music without getting to play it live,” notes Rice, “but I’m really proud of how much I’ve found myself as an artist on this project and I think it will segue perfectly into my next full album which is already in the works.”

Fans will finally have the chance to hear the new music in concert as Rice joins Kane Brown on the NBA arena Blessed & Free Tour at the top of 2022. For a full list of dates and to purchase tickets, click HERE.

Jackson Browne sets return with 'Downhill From Everywhere'

Jackson Browne's
forthcoming album Downhill From Everywhere is due out on July 23, worldwide through his label Inside Recordings.

The music video for “My Cleveland Heart,” his new single, was co-written with longtime guitarist Val McCallum and has a cameo by Phoebe Bridgers along with bandmates McCallum, Greg Leisz, Jeff Young, Mauricio Lewak, Bob Glaub as well as Pete Thomas and Dave Faragher.

Watch “My Cleveland Heart” here.

Nearly five decades since his debut album, the songs on Jackson Browne’s new album sustain the soulful intimacy of his first release, combined with a power and wisdom gained from a life pursuing positive change.

“There’s a deep current of inclusion running through this record,” Browne says. “I think that idea of inclusion, of opening yourself up to people who are different than you - that’s the fundamental basis for any kind of understanding in this world.”

The band began writing the album in early 2020, amid the onset of the global pandemic. After narrowing down the song selection, they hit the studio separately.

"The process was strange but the outcome rocks." - Jack Blades

"This record was incredibly hard to do as we could not be in a room together with all the COVID-19 issues that were going on. But sometimes you do your best work when there’s a deadline approaching." - Kelly Keagy

“It’s been a crazy but fun task trying to write and finish this new record in a Covid situation. A few zoom video gatherings got us started. With everybody in the band having their own home studios, we were all able to elaborate and add our own textures to each song. As a Vintage Guitar Collector, I was able to add some great classic sounds to rhythm and solos using my 57 Strat and 52 Goldtop! I hope everyone enjoys the record!" - Brad Gillis

Night Ranger has sold over 17 million albums worldwide.

Veteran Aussie rocker Hoodoo Gurus unveils new song 'World of Pain'

Hoodoo Gurus are marking their 40th year as a band with a forthcoming studio album (as yet untitled and scheduled for release later in 2021).

The new single, “World of Pain,” is out now. Watch the video here:
https://youtu.be/K6cGXNOAYHc

Speaking about the song, Hoodoo Gurus frontman Dave Faulkner says: “‘World Of Pain’ details the misadventures of a night on the town, beginning with a drunken altercation with another punter (“Your fist smashes my face/Chairs fly all over the place/What a sorry sight”) and concludes with our hapless narrator waking up in bed fully dressed, in the throes of a hangover, all the while trying to remember where he last saw his cellphone. That’s a world of pain indeed. Mind you, this is a fictional story, you understand.”

The long-awaited album is the band's first in more than a decade (the longest interval between Hoodoo Gurus albums in their history) and comes in tandem with a return to the concert stage including rare U.S. dates.

As Faulkner explains: “The last 12 months have been frustrating and nerve-racking for everyone, but for the Hoodoo Gurus this dark cloud has had a silver lining. Forced to rely on ourselves instead of the outside world for validation, there has been a creative rebirth within the band that has resulted in a string of singles and a new album. Most important of all, the musical bonds between the four of us have never been stronger. When the discussions are all about which songs we’re sad about having to leave off the record, that’s a damn good sign. I’m tellin’ ya, folks, we’ve got a real spring in our step right now.”

The event-filled calendar for Hoodoo Gurus in 2021 comes after the release of three tracks in the last 18 months. “Answered Prayers” emerged in late 2019, followed by “Hung Out to Dry” in July 2020 and “Get Out of Dodge” in October of last year.

Since their formation in 1981, Hoodoo Gurus earned nine ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Top 20 albums, nine ARIA Top 40 singles, and a host of multi-platinum albums. The Melbourne power pop band first gained international attention via the 1985 hit “I Want You Back” from the album Stone-Age Romeos and continued with “Bittersweet.” Excluding a 1998-2003 breakup, the guys released albums regularly through 2010 before embarking on a decade-long hiatus.

In 2007, the group was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Two years earlier, a cross-section of the Australian music community paid the band the ultimate homage by lovingly producing a tribute album of Gurus covers entitled Stoneage Cameos.

Artists such as Steve Van Zandt, Manic Street Preachers, Courtney Love and others have all cited the band's influence in the past.

Andrew McMahon pens a memoir; out in October

Southern California singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon, best known for his recording projects
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate, has written a memoir.

Three Pianos will be published by Princeton Architectural Press on October 26. It is told through the lens of McMahon's personal connection to three pianos.

He writes: “This is not a book about the music I have made, it is about how that music and the pianos I have called friends have helped me to make sense of the world. It is a story about family, disease, love and the hunger to be heard.”

For more information on Three Pianos, please visit: https://andrewmcmahon.com/pages/three-pianos-a-memoir

McMahon hasn’t let the pandemic slow him down. He has two shows coming up in Detroit on June 18-19 and last year he headlined a tour of drive-in shows presented by Nederlander Concerts in Anaheim, CA, Monmouth Park, NJ Austin, TX and Chicago, IL celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Jack’s Mannequin album Everything in Transit. He also released his newest track “New Year Song” produced by Suzy Shinn on the first of this year as well as “Get On My Wave” produced by King Tuff last summer. McMahon is currently in the studio working on new music.

The Zombies plan first livestream concert this fall

2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees The Zombies will present their first and only worldwide streaming event with a live concert from the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London on September 18 at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT/8pm BST.

The British pop pioneers will perform a career-spanning concert in Abbey Road’s Studio Two, returning 5 decades later to the hallowed space where they recorded their seminal album Odessey & Oracle in 1967. Fittingly, this event coincides with the start of Abbey Road’s 90th Anniversary celebrations. The concert will be broadcast by Veeps.com, the streaming platform founded by Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden in 2017.

The concert will be followed by an online Q&A Session from Abbey Road with founding members Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone. Hosted from “across the pond” by legendary Rock journalist David Fricke, the band will also field questions from a virtual audience of surprise celebrity guests. Special ticket packages with exclusive merchandise are also available to purchase at https://thezombies.veeps.com/

With all their touring plans postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Zombies jumped at the chance to do a “world tour” in one night. “We’re really excited for this opportunity to reconnect with our fans”, says lead singer Colin Blunstone, “and especially to reach places around the globe like Australia and South America, where we’ve never had the chance to play live before!”

The band is also excited to try out some new songs during the concert. With this forced break from touring, The Zombies current lineup - singer Blunstone and keyboardist Argent, along with Steve Rodford (drums), Tom Toomey (guitar) and Søren Koch (bass) - have been pouring their creative energies into recording the long-awaited follow-up to their Billboard charting 2015 album “Still Got That Hunger”.

According to Argent: “Of course I know these last fifteen months have been testing for everybody. What's suddenly feeling terrific for us though, is at last being able to continue the recording of our new album! We pretty much just completed the fifth song, and there are already three more currently in the pipeline to be rehearsed and recorded. The initial reaction to the completed tracks has been great, and the feeling of excitement is almost like starting again!”

The Zombies first burst onto the scene in 1964 at the forefront of the “British Invasion” with hit singles like “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”. The original members - Blunstone, Argent, Chris White (bass), Paul Atkinson (guitar) and Hugh Grundy (drums) first entered Abbey Road (then called EMI Recording Studios) in June 1967 armed with only a £1000 recording budget from CBS Records, and the ambition to self-produce their second album Odessey and Oracle. The band famously walked into Studio Two on the heels of The Beatles, who had just finished Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...benefiting from the Fab Four’s new advances in multi-track recording, and also the mess they left behind! Recalls Argent, "They left quite a few instruments lying around the Abbey Road Studios, one of which was John Lennon's Mellotron, which ended up all over the album. I didn't ask anybody's permission; I just used it because it was there!"

Released in 1968, Odessey and Oracle was initially a commercial disappointment, leading to the band’s break-up. Ironically, one year later, the last track on the album, “Time of the Season”, became a chart-topping single around the world, and over the decades, Odessey and Oracle, has been rediscovered as a pop touchstone, regularly making “Top Albums of All Time” lists in the likes of Rolling Stone and Mojo.

Following the break-up of the original band, vocalist Blunstone went on to develop an acclaimed solo career (with hits including "Say You Don't Mind," "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted", and “Old & Wise” with Alan Parsons Project) while Argent rocked ‘70’s arenas with his eponymous band ARGENT (“Hold Your Head Up,” “God Gave Rock ‘n’ Roll To You”), but the legend of The Zombies continued to take on a life of its own. By the start of the new Millennium, Blunstone and Argent were inspired to resurrect The Zombies.

With relentless touring and critically-acclaimed new releases, the band slowly reclaimed their legacy while developing new generations of fans. After receiving their 4th nomination in 5 years, and with a groundswell of support from both the public and their peers, The Zombies joined Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, and Roxy Music as the 2019 Class of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Time of the Season” continues to permeate popular culture, featured in an online promotional film for the launch of Chelsea Football Club’s new home kit line, and emblazoned on an exclusive T-shirt debuting at Urban Outfitters this July.

Look for the new Zombies album and concert dates in 2022.

WATCH “CAMOUFLAGE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (LIVE)”

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul were joined throughout the Summer of Sorcery tour by legendary friends and family. Summer of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre has a surprise appearance by Peter Wolf, who lends his vocals to versions of J Geils Band’s “Freeze Frame” and Artists United Against Apartheid’s landmark protest anthem, “Sun City.”

Summer Of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre is rounded out with nearly an extra hour of live music featuring seven previously unreleased bonus performances recorded throughout 2017-2019, including with such special guests as Australian music legends Jimmy Barnes and Peter Garrett, longtime friend and E Street Band bandmate Nils Lofgren, and Nick Gravenites, who joins Van Zandt for a spectacular rendition of the Electric Flag’s “Groovin’ Is Easy.”

In addition, Peter Wolf returns for a cover of The Showstoppers’ hit, “(Ain’t Nothin’ But A) Houseparty,” recorded during the Soulfire Tour but, according to Van Zandt, “too good to leave on the shelf.” The festivities come to a conclusion with a star-studded version of “Sun City,” which edits together performances with Jimmy Barnes, Jake Clemons, Sam Fender, Peter Garrett, Courtney Hadwin, Garland Jeffreys, and Bruce Springsteen.

“We were born freaks, misfits, and outcasts,” Van Zandt writes in the album’s liner notes, which also include personal comments about each performance. “We got into this business because no other would have us. While we were here we figured we might as well create a world of our own, because we didn’t fit in the one we were being offered. Being on the road with a band is the ultimate manifestation of that fantasy. Together you travel, you perform, you dispense joy, and you get to see the world while avoiding it at the same time.

“Such was the case with the troubadour missionaries and part-time exorcists known as the Disciples of Soul as they sprinkled enlightenment to a dark world from May 27, 2017, to November 6, 2019. First, as the Soulfire was lit in the overture and finally as the Summer of Sorcery played out its magical denouement. Herein embodies the still sparkling evidence of the latter, that which began as stranger’s prayers imagined and ended as a family’s promise fulfilled. Enjoy it at as much as we did at whatever volume is required to force your neighbors to call the cops.”

Van Zandt recently announced the publication of his first-ever memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, due September 28 from Hachette Books; pre-orders are available now HERE.

Duran Duran reveal new single 'Invisible' and 'Future Past' album details

Duran Duran has released their new single ‘INVISIBLE,’ with accompanying music video, alongside official details on their 15th studio album, FUTURE PAST. Set for global release on October 22 via TAPE MODERN for BMG, FUTURE PAST was helmed by producers Erol Alkan, the legendary Giorgio Moroder and Mark Ronson, plus special guest Graham Coxon of Blur on guitar, David Bowie’s former pianist Mike Garson, and guest vocals from Lykke Li, with more collaborators to be announced.

The first single to come from FUTURE PAST is ‘INVISIBLE,’ produced by Erol Alkan and Duran Duran, and mixed by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. The official music video was created by an Artificial Intelligence (A.I) called Huxley and comes out ahead of the band’s worldwide exclusive televised performance of the track, set to air live from London on the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, on Sunday, May 23 on NBC in North America.

Talking about the single from his home in London, co-founder and keyboardist, Nick Rhodes said: “Sonic architecture has always been incredibly important to Duran Duran. I think, with "INVISIBLE", we really have managed to carve the sculpture the way we wanted it. Sonically, it's a very unusual piece of music. I think when you merge all the instruments together, it creates an overall sound that perhaps you haven't heard before.”

The official film for Duran Duran’s ‘INVISIBLE’ is the first collaboration of its kind, between artists in different planes of existence. In a ground-breaking, world first, Huxley is an A.I. whose ‘mind’ has been designed based on what we know about how the cognitive and emotional processes of human beings work. Huxley is a unique dreamer with its own A.I. brain. Huxley creates and dreams much as we do, and using an established technique called ‘active inference,’ which was originally created by Karl Friston (one of the most influential neuroscientists in history), we are able to explore the complex dreamscapes that it has imagined from the lyrics and emotional tone of the song. Huxley takes the concepts that are rooted in human language and iconic symbolism and translates them into provocative and daring imagery that pushes the boundaries of imagination to create a new form of visual discourse that is quite remarkable. The result is a haunting and memorable music video. Watch HERE.

The band members collaborated with Japanese artist Daisuke Yokota, whose photography they had long admired, on both the front cover of the ‘INVISIBLE’ single and their forthcoming album. Rhodes first met Yokota in 2019 when he was in Japan making a documentary on post war photography.

Speaking on their forthcoming album, and latest single, Simon Le Bon also reveals: “When we first went into the studio in late 2018, I was trying to persuade the guys that all we needed to do was write two or three tracks for an EP. Four days later, with the nucleus of 25 plus strong songs in the can, that all deserved development, I realized we’d be in it for the long haul, but that was before COVID. So here we are in 2021 with our 15th studio album, FUTURE PAST straining at the leash. Music by Duran Duran with Graham Coxon, Lykke Li, Mike Garson, Erol Alkan, Mark Ronson, Giorgio Moroder (for God’s sake!). I’m not saying it’s epic, but well ... yes I am. We open with the song ‘INVISIBLE’, which began as a story about a one-sided relationship but grew into something much bigger, because “a voiceless crowd isn’t backing down”. John and Roger’s rhythm track is mountainous; Nick’s melodies twist and soar; Graham’s guitar is a knife. It feels exactly right for right now.”

Renowned through-out their impressive 40-year career for their trail-blazing endeavors in both music and emerging technology, Duran Duran continue their trend, this time with a special collaboration with 360 Reality Audio, a new immersive music experience using Sony’s spatial sound technologies.

Duran Duran and Sony’s 360 Reality Audio have entered into a special creative collaboration, and first of its kind, to provide fans an entirely new and immersive way to listen to their songs. The first release from this collaboration will be their new single ‘INVISIBLE.’ This will be followed by 360 mixes of their upcoming album FUTURE PAST, together with new 360 versions of their back catalog. 360 Reality Audio is on supported streaming services Amazon Music HD, TIDAL HiFi, and Deezer HiFi. The official video for ‘INVISIBLE’ also features a simulated 360 Reality Audio Experience where fans can immerse themselves in the music with any pair of headphones.

“As a band we’ve always looked to new technology for a way to enhance our sound. The Sony 360 system brings a new and different dimension to the tracks,” Nick Rhodes explains.

FUTURE PAST will be available on all digital platforms. As well as the standard CD, a limited edition Deluxe hardback book CD format will be available featuring three additional tracks. The album will be also be available on colored vinyl. The official album store will offer exclusive vinyl and cassette formats with limited edition signed prints. PRE-ORDER/SAVE/ADD HERE

Information Society's 'ODDfellows' due in August

Veteran electronic/pop band Information Society - best known for the top 10 hit "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" in 1988, return with a new album ODDfellows, released digitally on Aug. 6 with a physical release also planned.

It is the first complete album to be released with a headphone version rendered in THX Spatial Audio, the same technology used in gaming platforms to provide audio that sounds like it's coming from ‘outside your head.’

“We've always been a technically adventurous band, and I think this is just another example of that,” says founder/producer/synth player Paul Robb about how the album simulates the 5.1 environment.

“We like to play around the edges of what's possible in recorded music, and so we are excited to provide our music to our fans with deeper immersion and a 360° soundscape experience provided by THX Spatial Audio.” (The album will also be available in standard stereo).

The band has often incorporated elements of new wave, electropop, freestyle, industrial and darkwave into their music.

“In the band's original incarnation, we were, as all young artists are, heavily influenced by what was going on around us,” Robb explains. “This meant that we were participating in musical (and visual) trends, almost without knowing it. Styles like new wave, electro pop, freestyle, Miami bass, and electro-industrial were the waters we swam in. Nowadays, we aren't part of any new trends, or even aware of them honestly, so we find ourselves exploring and revisiting what has become our own distinctive style, and there's plenty of room to play around there.”

Robb singles out orchestral pop closer "The Mymble's Daughter" as a favorite on the new album.

“We don't often write love songs, but when we do, they are always dedicated to Finnish cartoon characters from the 1950s. Also, ‘Grups’ has a special place for me. Composed exclusively of found lyrics (you guess the source), this one could be thought of as our pandemic song.”

It is customary for INSOC albums to include a cover song as a tribute to an artist they admire. 2014’s _hello world included a cover of Devo’s “Beautiful World”; 1997’s Don’t Be Afraid included Gary Numan’s “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?”). Now the new album has a take on "Bennington" by John Maus.

"Ever since I was introduced (belatedly) to John Maus, I've loved his dreamy retro post-vaporwave vibe,” lauds Robb. “It is amazing to me how compelling his music can be, especially since (or maybe because of) his highly constrained style choices and garage sale gear list. Also, he's a Minnesota boy, so there's that.”

Circling back to the conversation about how revolutionary the spatial version of their album is, Robb adds, “I love the roomier sound of the spatial mixes. Kasson Crooker, our collaborator on these mixes, really did a great job of putting the songs into a different, larger space, and I think it really helps you get lost in the music, if that's your thing. When I was an impressionable teenager, the local rock station in Minneapolis had a show at midnight on Fridays called ‘For Headphones Only,' where they would play ‘spacey’ music and Pink Floyd and that kind of stuff, which I was way into at the time. So I think of these as our ‘For Headphones Only’ mixes.”

The current iteration of INSOC comprises founding members Paul Robb on synths, Kurt Larson on vocals and bassist James Cassidy. Zeke Prebluda (aka Falcotronik), who has been performing live with the band since 2009 joined the band as the official fourth member in 2019.

About the unique stylistic spelling of the album title ODDfellows, Robb says, “We just thought it was an appropriate summary of the three longtime members of the group. The initial capitalized letters definitely do not stand for Oppositional Defiant Disorder.”

Jack Antonoff & Bleachers set new album for July, tour dates

Frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff and his band Bleachers released their new track “Stop Making This Hurt” along with the music video, directed by Carlotta Kohl. Watch HERE.

Bleachers will be performing “Stop Making This Hurt” on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 26 – making them the first full band to perform in-studio in over a year.

Antonoff says, "’Stop Making This Hurt’ is what you get when we are not allowed to go play for our people. it’s a line that had been ringing in my head for years. i fell into a dark place after a loss and then starting to have that feeling of rage towards the depression - which is when you know there’s a way out. started looking at the people close to me in my life and finding all the ways we keep ourselves from breaking through. “Stop Making This Hurt” started ringing more and more in my head. then the pandemic hit and i got the band in a room and we played like we may never play again. at that point it took on another meaning. found myself banging at the door of the next phase of my life and to open brings up all the darkness from the past and what’s holding you back. i could intellectualize it for days but what im truly left with is a voice in my head shouting “Stop Making This Hurt”."

“Stop Making This Hurt” is the first single and third offering from Bleachers’ forthcoming album and follows previously released tracks “Chinatown” feat. Bruce Springsteen and “45” which were met with mass critical praise in late 2020.

Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde pays tribute to Bob Dylan on solo album

Chrissie Hynde tackles the Bob Dylan songbook during her new covers album, Standing In The Doorway: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan. It arrives via BMG at all DSPs and streaming services on May 21. A CD and vinyl LP release will follow on Aug. 20.

STANDING IN THE DOORWAY: CHRISSIE HYNDE SINGS BOB DYLAN

The songs were recorded last year during lockdown by Hynde and her Pretenders lead guitarist bandmate, James Walbourne. The nine-track collection was made almost exclusively via text message, with Walbourne recording an initial musical idea on his phone and then sending it off to Hynde to add her vocal. The new versions were then mixed by multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning producer/engineer/mixer Tchad Blake (The Black Keys, Neil Finn) before originally premiering via The Pretenders’ official YouTube channel.

“A few weeks into lockdown last year, James sent me the new Dylan track, ‘Murder Most Foul.’” Hynde says. “Listening to that song completely changed everything for me. I was lifted out of this morose mood that I’d been in. I remember where I was sitting the day that Kennedy was shot - every reference in the song. Whatever Bob does, he still manages somewhere in there to make you laugh because as much as anything, he’s a comedian. He’s always funny and always has something to say. I called James and said, ‘Let’s do some Dylan covers,’ and that’s what started this whole thing.”

The intimate process behind Standing In The Doorway: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan will be featured in Tomorrow Is A Long Time, a new documentary by International Emmy® Award-winning filmmakers Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt (Romeo & Juliet: Beyond Words, BalletBoyz) premiering exclusively via the UK’s Sky Arts channel on Monday, May 24 in celebration of Dylan’s 80th birthday; a U.S. broadcast premiere will be announced soon.

Saint Motel to present a combined 'Original Motion Picture Soundtrack' next month

Elektra recording group Saint Motel have announced they will release their new album The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on June 25. It is available for pre-order HERE. To herald the arrival of the record, the band has also shared a new single entitled “It’s All Happening”. The track is available to stream and download now HERE.

On The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack the Los Angeles-based band dreams up their own cinematic experience in album form, as its songs cycle through stories of love, danger, and impossible triumph. “We’d love it if it had the same effect as a great movie, where you feel a part of the adventure,” Saint Motel frontman A/J Jackson shared. “And just like the hero, you come out of the journey a new version of yourself, a version shaped by what you encountered along the way.”

The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was co-produced by Jackson and Grammy Award-winner Mark Needham (The Killers, Dolly Parton, Chris Isaak).

Fans began experiencing the album with the release of a pair of EPs: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Pt.1 and The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Pt. 2. “Van Horn” has amassed nearly 20 million streams, while the band performed it on ABC’s JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!

In the lead up to the album, Saint Motel made history as “the first band to open their own virtual metaverse” powered by Mozilla Hubs. The virtual world is designed as a motel with each room dedicated to a song on The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

The quartet’s launch of “New World” welcomed fans to the virtual space where Jackson performed a live acoustic set. In this 3D VR chatroom enabled for all headsets and browsers, audiences can enter an exclusive, immersive environment to engage directly with the band through virtual meet-and-greets and intimate, live performances, consume exclusive video content and more.

Additionally, it doubles as a space for fans to congregate and get to know each other. Saint Motel’s “New World” upholds what has become a tradition of engaging with groundbreaking technology for the guys. Visit www.saintmotel.com/newworld to explore the “New World.” In 2016, they dropped their Elektra full length debut saintmotelevision as the first-ever Virtual Reality album and first-ever Augmented Reality album and accompanied the record with the free saintmotel AR/VR app.
